Not one of Bok's better efforts. Even the artwork is shoddy-- the lighter in his hand looks like a candle.

  2. MikeP   15 years ago

    Freebird!

    1. crayon   15 years ago

      Smoke on the water!
      And fire in the sky!

      1. Pro Libertate   15 years ago

Dude, that's Deep Purple. Nothing at all like Lynyrd Skynyrd.

        1. crayon   15 years ago

I believe it's more suitable than Freebird.

  3. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

My browser is not showing me the picture. Someone describe it to me so I can come up with a joke ridiculing Bok's effort.

    1. MikeP   15 years ago

Scientist-looking guy in white lab coat. Where there are usually buttons, his coat says "CLIMATE SCIENCE". He's holding a burning lighter next to the bulb of a thermometer.

No mention of whether he's paid the carbon tax on the butane.

      1. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

Where is Obama standing, and how racially stereotypical did he draw him?

As a side note, they claim that when you lose your sight, your other senses heighten to compensate. But to me this Friday Funny doesn't smell any different than any of the others.

        1. Piltdown Man   15 years ago

Obama is pictured, barefoot in overalls, with a live chicken under each arm and eating a slice of watermelon as he is running away from an angry farmer.

          1. Piltdown Man   15 years ago

The word "taxes" is written on the chickens.Obama's mouth is drawn freakishly large and grinning with exaggerated lips and big white teeth.

            1. Silentz   15 years ago

PM, you should really start submitting comics for the Friday Funnies.
              Er...I mean...RACIST!

  4. ed   15 years ago

It's a white box. The ice age has arrived!

  5. Suki   15 years ago

    I LOLed.

Would have been better with a zippo.

  6. domoarrigato   15 years ago

    I give it a gentlemans B.

    Hi Suki!

    1. Suki   15 years ago

      Hi domo!

I have a bleg, but not for money. John's stalker came back and we need some assistance. Go here and click through to AtSite.

In good news, my first story will come back from John and Sarah's editing butchery any day now and be published real soon.

    2. Suki   15 years ago

Looks like someone's boss saw it. Thanks everybody 🙂

  7. SugarFree   15 years ago

My reaction runs the entire gambit from "meh" to [shrug].

  8. P Brooks   15 years ago

I get the Ice Age whiteout version.

    I consider myself lucky.

  9. P Brooks   15 years ago

I want to see a cartoon of a polar bear sitting in the Oval Office picking his teeth and rubbing his bulging belly.

Maybe with some Presidential artifacts strewn about.

    Okay, Chip?

    Chop, chop!

    1. brotherben   15 years ago

The poor polar bear would probably choke to death on Obama's Nobel bling.

  10. crayon   15 years ago

Well, it's posted on a Friday, so I guess the title is about 50% correct.

  11. The Gobbler   15 years ago

Why can't I see the funny this week? Always could before.

  12. steve   15 years ago

I can see it in firefox, but not on IE. I think it is rather funny myself.

  13. brotherben   15 years ago

I don't get it. A large plain white background with a tiny, framed red X in the upper left corner. The artwork is better than usual for Bok, but it isn't humorous at all. Am I missing something?

  14. Bouncer   15 years ago

    Whered the picture go?

  15. bubba   15 years ago

    I can has red x?

  16. Tulpa   15 years ago

The AGW conspiracy must be trying to suppress all criticism. Even in lame cartoon form.

  17. Dello   15 years ago

If I'm not mistaken, this cartoon made it into "The Week" magazine.

  18. Robbie   15 years ago

I dunno, I don't usually laugh at the political cartoons, but i actually chuckled a little at this one. I think it was the simplicity compared to how many implications usually shoved into these things.

  19. Lord Jubjub   15 years ago

Strange, I can't see it in Firefox.

  20. Jim   15 years ago

But doesn't climate refer to longer periods of time rather than a simple moment in time (which would be weather)? I doubt the scientist has enough fuel in the lighter to gather enough data for a reliable study.

Also, this comic may not be racist per se, but it's bigoted against mustachoied scientists.

  21. Warren   15 years ago

I was sure I left a comment before.

    Best Bok Ever

    Funny
    Spot effing On
    Poor artwork
    Grade: B+

  22. Mike M.   15 years ago

The next cartoon should be about the environmentally friendly high-efficiency traffic lights in Wisconsin that cause traffic accidents because they don't give off enough heat to melt the snow and ice covering them.

    1. Sam-hec   15 years ago

Are traffic lights in Wisconsin supposed to be that warm?

  23. wingnutx   15 years ago

    This is better than usual.

  24. Paul   15 years ago

No picture here, either. Oh I get it now. There's "nothing there"...

  25. Paul   15 years ago

    How postmodern.

  26. thedailycynic   15 years ago

still better than the hack politico uses

  27. steve   15 years ago

Er, I once worked at a newspaper where that happened. A lighter carefully held under a thermometer raised the temperature by fifteen degrees on a winter's day. It was duly reported without comment as being one of the warmest days ever in December.

    1. Pope Albert   15 years ago

Heretic! Outlier! BURN him, my minions!

      1. Chad   15 years ago

        Yes, Master.

  28. abercrombie milano   15 years ago

My only point is that if you take the Bible straight, as I'm sure many of Reasons readers do, you will see a lot of the Old Testament stuff as absolutely insane. Even some cursory knowledge of Hebrew and doing some mathematics and logic will tell you that you really won't get the full deal by just doing regular skill english reading for those books. In other words, there's more to the books of the Bible than most will ever grasp. I'm not concerned that Mr. Crumb will go to hell or anything crazy like that! It's just that he, like many types of religionists, seems to take it literally, take it straight...the Bible's books were not written by straight laced divinity students in 3 piece suits who white wash religious beliefs as if God made them with clothes on...the Bible's books were written by people with very different mindsets...in order to really get the Books of the Bible, you have to cultivate such a mindset, it's literally a labyrinth, that's no joke
