The Bocephus Bailout
Sarah Palin-supporter Hank Williams Jr. is back with a new single called "Red, White & Pink-Slip Blues," which he debuted this morning on Fox & Friends. It's a quaint little portrait of right-wing populism, complete with complaints about high taxes, dangerous streets, and shuttered mills that have moved to Mexico. Check it out for yourself below, but only after applying for the Bocephus Bailout.

Whew.
shuttered mills
Huh? Is he trying to get invited to John Edwards parties or something?
What? No C.S. Lewis Jr.reference?
You know, it's hard to admit aloud you have conservative tendencies when you're represented by the likes of Fox News, Bocephus here, Sarah Palin and her brood, blowhard radio talk show hosts, and the rednecky "These Colors Don't Run" elements.
You can eat my dog,
You can eat my truck,
But you eat my flag and you're out of luck!
She's 'awaven proud around the world,
From Dallas to Ft. Worth,
Let me say it again...
Don't mess with Earth!
...Don't-mess-with-Earth.
Kill Zoidberg!!
MY WAY
(sung to Frank Sinatra's "My Way")
And now, the end is near;
To all of you, I'm glad I met ya'
Alaskans, let's make it clear,
Did I fool you?, Oh yeah, "ya betcha!"
You've met Todd, the "First Dude",
His snowmachine is in the driveway.
Is he drunk? My God, he's blitzed,
The D.U.I. way.
Regrets, I've had a few;
More than most, I will remember.
My lipstick and my hair-do
But most of all, 4th of November.
Each day since then has been
Another never-ending whine and cry day,
And I've been told by Newt Gingrich,
To hit the high-way.
Yes, there were times, that now you know
I failed to declare "per diem" dough.
What's this about "stimulus funds"?
Let's just cling to, our God and guns.
Oh, I just winked and then I blinked;
And did it my way.
Nicknames, I've had a few
There's "Caribou" and "Barracuda"
Now I'm known as "Sarah Who?"
Cuz Tina Fey is so much cuter.
To think I'm a has been;
And I can't see - beyond next Friday
Woe, oh woe is me,
I won't have my day.
For what is a gal, what has she got?
When her career, has gone to pot.
How to appear on nightly news;
When she's inept at interviews.
She's still exposed despite those clothes -
See - You - Next - Tuesday!
OT:
Douchebag of the day.
hank III > hank jr
Populism. Thomas Jefferson's ugly cousin.
I think the bailout-humor shark has been jumped, hasn't it?
The old "They're shippin' jobs overseas" complaint. Something liberals and conservatives share more often than not on the fringe, and also refuse to acknowledge that when a liberal politician (I'm looking at you Barack) shouts that we need to end tax breaks for corporations that ship jobs overseas, it really means we need to end punitive taxes for corporations that remain domestic.
ed,
Bailout humor is too big to fail.
heh.
Michael,
Mainstream conservatism is neo-liberalism. They justify their beliefs with Revolutionary values like "freedom" and "justice," instead of arguing from a holistic sense of right as honest conservatism does.
Conservatism = conserve = conserve culture, meaning, heritage, environment. It's not about letting every idiot do whatever they want to do just because they're human individuals. Its only overlap with libertarianism is in economics.
Really, guys? I love Hit and Run but I fail to see how this applies at all to Free Mind or Free Markets. Furthermore it's crappy music.
What Michael said is dead on and the only way to get the libertarian message to a wider audience is to get away from the image of an arsenal-owning hick living in the middle-of-nowhere Montana wearing a tin foil hat because government satellites are trying to read his mind.
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be snark, Matt.
[insert derogatory comment about The Real Hank Williams' idiot son]
------
Dear Matt-
I am not a hick. I don't own any guns.
And yet, I live in the middle of nowhere Montana.
Because where you live sucks.
Hank Williams Jr. is definitely a tool, but to his credit he did sing the Canyonero song on the Simpsons (not to be confused with the Dondero song). And he did provide fodder for this.
Got to love C.S. Lewis Jr.
"...and them motherfuckers had gone to the goddamned moon!"
The only thing Hank Williams Jr. ever did right was to accidentally father Hank III. Fuck, Bocephus can't even fall off a mountain to his death properly.
C.S. Lewis Jr.
I was racking my brain for hours trying to think of his name. Thanks.
Yo, fuck not letting every idiot do whatever they want to do just because they're human individuals.
Hank Williams Sr.
Hank Williams Jr.
Hank III
Proof that talent skips a generation.
I am not a hick. I don't own any guns.
I am not a hick, and I own a safe full of guns. Your implication that guns = hick is not appreciated.
i am not a hick and don't own any guns. your metric should not be "hicks" but rather "people with atrocious taste in music".
@Episiarch: You can crush my bones, but you'll never crush my spirit.
[CRUNCH]
Ow, my spirit!
R.C.D. is a Cosmosmithandwessontarian.
Your implication that guns = hick is not appreciated.
R C- you made an inference, all on your own.
If it makes you feel any better, I'll re-state it: "I am not a hick. I don't own any guns, either."
There is, in my mind, no dependent relationship between guns and hick-nicity.
I own a truck.
I live in the Midwest.
I own several guns.
I listen to country including Hank.
I guess you can color me hick.
You know, it's hard to admit aloud you have conservative tendencies when you're represented by the likes of Fox News, Bocephus here, Sarah Palin and her brood, blowhard radio talk show hosts, and the rednecky "These Colors Don't Run" elements.
Listen to that little voice that's telling you there's something embarassing about being a conservative.
Listen to that little voice that's telling you there's something embarassing about being a conservative.
Only if we mean "big-C" Conservative. Which, of course, means a big-government, liberty-hating war monger.
Real conservatism is something quite different, and includes strange things like an adherence to the Constitution.
Conservatism needs a better CD collection.
If it makes you feel any better, I'll re-state it: "I am not a hick. I don't own any guns, either."
Thanks. Although I don't think it unreasonable to conclude that
I am not a hick. I don't own any guns.
is implying a relationship between the two.
Ugh.
Bocephus, you're no Hank Williams.
My Intro to Philosophy professor said the exact same things. And he is an extremely sharp guy.
Meh, "Family Tradition" is a pretty good song and Bocephus isn't all that bad. But yeah, Hank III is pretty damned good.
