Over at Culture11, I have a quick and dirty rundown of what to expect from tonight's awkwardly intimate "town hall" debate. Let's hope this is the closest we ever get to these people.

McCain gets raped in the debate because he's old, not quick on his feet, has a lot of internal contradictions in his political philosophy, and has no desire to change any of those things.

  2. economist   17 years ago

"Not quick on his feet" could have been changed to "slow", but I don't think McCain's retarded, just not the fastest thinker.

he's old, not quick on his feet, has a lot of internal contradictions in his political philosophy, and has no desire to change any of those things

I'll wager he'd desire to change the first of those things.

Did "both Parties" wreck Iceland? And the rest of the World? I'm puttin' the blame on central banks and artificially low interest rates through monetary inflation resulting in massive mal-investment. I get lost trying to figure exactly how they spun %5 mortgage straw into leveraged gold.

  5. economist   17 years ago

No, I think John McCain actually likes being old and crotchety.

  6. Elemenope   17 years ago

McCain seems to alternate between really being on his game, and sounding suddenly confused/panicky.

Obama seems less sure, but he's being a little more consistent on tone than McCain.

And if Obama's "Confident" is a loser, so is McCain's "teh Spending freeze!!"

(Was trying to post this on the live-blog thread, but the squirrels won't let me!)

    "That one."

The people who I'm watching with just went a little ballistic on that one.

Unnecessarily disrespectful; it makes McCain look small and nasty.

  8. geo   17 years ago

raped? that's an insulting and insensitive use of that word.
