Did he HAVE to make a black guy represent New Orleans?

  2. Anonymous Wanker   17 years ago

Would it have been OK if he’d have made the taxpayer guy black? Jeez.

  3. Windtell   17 years ago

Not a bad one at all, which is a masterpiece by FF standards! Good job

  4. Taktix?   17 years ago

    FF – Bok = Funny

    Eureka!

  5. JMR   17 years ago

Who cares what color the guy representing New Orleans is? That’s irrelevant. The butt of the joke is taxpayers, who come in all colors. It won’t be funny once inflation is finally unmasked, and the con game is slowly collapsing at the moment.

  6. Episiarch   17 years ago

    Not bad! I’m shocked.

  7. JohnD   17 years ago

Dog and Wanker, he made the New Orleans guy black because the vast majority of NO is black. Even Nagan said publicly that he wanted NO to be a “chocolate city”…

    You guys are freaking morons

  8. J   17 years ago

    Nice. A rare hit!

  9. Warren   17 years ago

There are plenty of nits to pick here. But as noted, this week’s FF floats to the top.

  10. Lane Honda   17 years ago

The New Orleans guy looks Sicilian to me. And how many people actually wear shirts that say “taxpayer” on them? That really grinds my gears.

  11. ed   17 years ago

What isn’t shown in the cartoon of course is the entire length of the waiting line, which includes such lovable characters as Sally So’Security, Mabel Medicare, Pauline Prescription Plan and Franky Farmer. It needn’t be mentioned but I will anyway: at the very end of the line is the twin brother of Mr. Taxpayer himself, fully expecting services for payments extorted.

  12. Isaac Bartram   17 years ago

Good point, ed. Or as Pogo would say “we have met the enemy and he is us.”

  13. Peter K.   17 years ago

You could add Lehman brothers. I don’t like how it conflates the poor, struggling people of New Orleans with rich, connected ones of Bear Stearns who no doubt got golden parachutes as they took tax payer money.

Re: Lehman brothers, nice how Federal government is backing that private company – for the justifiable reason of preventing a panic and a collapse of the global economy – at taxpayers expenses. That investment bank should have been regulated if it’s “too big to fail.”

    This cartoon conflates too much.

  14. ed   17 years ago

“we have met the enemy and he is us.”

True now as it was then.

  15. robc   17 years ago

I don’t like how it conflates the poor, struggling people of New Orleans with rich, connected ones of Bear Stearns

Because they are both asking for handouts of money that isnt theirs to ask for?

  16. Shem   17 years ago

Wow, I actually chuckled at this one. Did Chip Bok finally go to jail for blackmailing whoever he was forcing to choose his comics?

  17. ed   17 years ago

Bok must be in therapy by now. Youse guys is mean!

  18. Peter K.   17 years ago

    robc:

you must be a selfish self-centered person.

  19. LarryA   17 years ago

I don’t like how it conflates the poor, struggling people of New Orleans with rich, connected ones of Bear Stearns

The New Orleans guy in line doesn’t represent “the poor, struggling people of New Orleans” who are still waiting to get permission to rebuild their homes from Katrina. It represents the government and elite of NOLA who want cash for more dikes, infrastructure, public works, and other largess they might one day allow to trickle down a bit.

  20. Tim   17 years ago

Pretty good! It should also have Congress at the door holding it open to all the special interests.

  21. blood sword   17 years ago

This is a good ‘un. Well done, Mr. Payne!

  22. sldfjk   17 years ago

    That was funny.

  23. ktc2   17 years ago

    Actually laughed at this one.

But where’s Iraq in that line?

  24. gao xia en   17 years ago

Iraqis can’t vote in US elections. They just get a free shovel.

  25. Zac in CA   17 years ago

I think it’s the true spirit of libertarianism to conflate federal aid for citizens with the shamelessly corporatist bailout of an investment firm. This cartoon has reminded me what most of you are actually concerned about.

But don’t think for a moment that us socialists are happy about this situation – at least, not when the welfare of citizens is put on the back burner compared to the fiscal integrity of foolhardy banking concerns.

  26. Lane Honda   17 years ago

It’s ok Zac, we know you socialists only find theft immoral when it goes to people you don’t like. Us Neanderthals don’t have such an enlightened view of arbitrary use of monopoly force for the good of society (determined by the secret code book of utilitarian calculus).
