Housing question:
Whose garage?
I would kill myself if I lived in DC or was there for more than a weekend. I just start to feel dirty.
Intern at Reason!
Never, bloodsuckers!
I could be the next Juliet Samuel?!?!
Reason is running internment camps?
That would be so awesome! I would write entire articles of non-sequiturs and then when I had trouble meeting deadlines I'd go all Jayson Blair.
Hopefully Reason will be the gateway to my path to become the next Stephen Glass
Remember Paleos speak carefully when going through the interview process.
Darn you Art-P.O.G.!
they want 5 published writing samples. Are interns usually already published writers?
(serious question. Is that normal?)
up to five writing samples (preferably published clips)
Don't be afraid to include the hardcore punk fanzine you wrote and xeroxed off back in high school in these. Hell, it might be what gets you the internship.
Episiarch,
We're abusing Spitzer over and over and over again at Urkobold. Thought you might want to wallow in it some more.
On my way! The Kerry sex (whoops, prostitution) thread has basically petered (ha ha ha!) out.
Very weak performance by Ms Mangu-Ward on CNBC right now. Go for the throat, Kathy!
Good. I just added a poll asking our readers what Spitzer should do next, now that he has some free time.

"And thus, the dire finical repercussions of the draconian capital gains tax continues to reverberate throughout the hearts in every good-hearted investor in our great country. also, anti-flag r sell-out pussyz and any1 who listens 2 them r a bunch o' posers how shood listen to R3AL music 4 a change."
Do stories on the front page of Slashdot count?
All along the Orange Line, Cosmotarian watchers were asking themselves, "is this a sign that Tovarishch Weigel is no longer favored by the Kreml'?"
Okay, no lying now: who read the first line of the address as "Gay Internship"?
Reason is running internment camps?
Don't give them any ideas.
Additional requirements for interns.
I nominate joe!
That way, he could have a real job.
Does Reason accept gay men such as myself for interns? Not that there's anything wrong if they don't!
Casey Serin,
Try TNR, but they might be a little shy about it after they fired one in that Scott Thomas Beauchamp incident.
This is about fellatio, isn't it?
I have a degree from University of Phoenix in Journalism..
Can I have a job?
What is memorial about labor at far below market rates? Internships are fine, but the binary act of desperation in terms of employer and employee doesn't exactly scream "honor so-and-so". Thats like the Maurie Manheim Memorial Loan Shark Grant or something
I have a degree from University of Phoenix in Journalism..
Can I have a job?
No, because you don't even know where to put a prepositional phrase. Now get the fuck out.
I can carry trays of coffee and I'm notoriously good at getting drunk after work, can I have a job?
Damn, Jamie, I know you established journos have to act as gatekeepers for the profession and all, but that was harsh. Aren't those layers of editing and proofreading supposed to help with minor screwups like that?
No, because you don't even know where to put a prepositional phrase.
You suck.
HA HA HA

$200/wk (ex-housing)? In Wash, DC?
Really?
I surely live in the "taint" of America! (Ohio!- Just South of the "asshole of America"-(Michigan)- and just North of the American "genetic re-inforcement experiments" (Kentucky, Tennessee, W. Va., etc.).
But, still...
At $200/wk, I can only hope she has "pole skills"....
Strangely, the University of Michigan was left off the list of cool places that former reason interns work.
Jeff
I wish I were accomplished enough to think I had a chance at this
Are they hiring anyone over 30? 40?
Reminder to candidates from the real USA: the Reason offices (and possibly your housing) are located in a $500 fine per round zone. The gun posession laws are pretty strict too (unless you are on the Senate Staff of Reason's favorite VA Democrat).
Just a reminder.
I'm sorry I said all those things about Kerry Howley that got me banned from posting on H&R. Can I have a job? Seems that a pig dissatisfied (to borrow from J.S. Mill) would provide some balance to the Reason staff.
At $200/wk, I can only hope she has "pole skills"....
And in a thoroughly unrelated development, I am willing to publicly admit that I live within walking distance of the orange line and have a guest bedroom.
If the intern is an attractive female, we need to keep Warren away from any and all Internets for the duration of her stay. It would be very counterproductive to The Cause if we send an idealistic young libertarian screaming into the arms of the Socialists.
Jennifer:
You think she needs to be attractive for Warren to keep bothering her? Two words: Female. Libertarian.
intern at reason
strong pole skills are required
fatties not allowed
Intern at reason
and you'll find many jobs in
fast food industry
OO=====D / Blue Dress?
Do you accept applications from foreign nationals? Can one apply via email or is snail mail a must?
I have a degree from University of Phoenix in Journalism..
Can I have a job?
You have a degree in baloney.
*sprays poster with a fire hose*
I have a B.A. in English from a state school, love to get drunk and still think my band will make it.
I await your response.
I was kicked out of college my sophomore year when I was 25 years old, and I currently reside in a cabin in the middle of the woods of Montana where I manicly pound away at my typewriter writing my 600-page book on how chemtrails are used by the government to brainwash us into thinking that the Federal Reserve works.
I await your response.
My hobbies include picking mites out of my beard and counting the number of secret microphones the government hid in my cabin.

So THAT's how they do it. Its all so clear now.
I wish I had applied for this as an undergrad. I totally would've made the cut. Oh well.
Can I get that stipend in gold bullion?
They get paid per week what I get per hour. Of course, I don't get to dress up like The Fonz.
@8)-
Lame post, Lamar.
Hey Josef I go to Reason events all the time in search of a fellow (or even sister!) faggot for fun and frolic and unfortunately the homosexuals are woefully underrepresented even though these events are always near queer Dupont Circle. It is definitely gray, not gay. Though they may be gray-friendly. Senior editor Matt Welch and his lovely wife are even even in a family way right now.

Who should come
Anyone and everyone who sympathizes Libertarian!
Why
This is a fun first gathering to meet all the D.C. Libertarians and to discuss upcoming events, the election, new ideas for the future, and just to blow off some steam after work.
How to find the organizer(s)
"I'll be the guy with the spiky brown hair and the brown leather jacket! Or go to http://www.austinpetersen.com to see what I look like!"

Details
Hello everyone!
This is an informal meet and greet event to introduce myself to all the Beltway Libertarians. I'm the new Volunteer Coordinator and would really like to get to know everybody that's interested in being a part of our plans for the future.
Everyone is welcome!
I live within walking distance of Reason, the White House, Georgetown, and the Ritz Carlton, and have a guest bedroom.
Of course I would have to move the library out of it
Still waiting...Oh, I have to actually apply? That seems like a lot of effort. Easier to post lazy snarky comments here, where we're all anonymous crackpot stars. And we don't have to relocate to hell.
Reason's offices are hardly in hell. On the same side of the same block they are on there are 3 restaurants, a spa, and a sex toy shop, and across the street there are at least four more decent restaurants and another sex toy shop. And even better restaurants when you move around the corner or down the street. They are also only two blocks from the Philips Collection and a boat load of art galleries, bookstores, and Embassies. If you are into that faggoty kind of stuff.
Bruce Majors wrote: "On the same side of the same block they are on there are 3 restaurants, a spa, and a sex toy shop,"
Is that a spa or a "spa"?
Sorry Jack but it won't be enough for you. It is a spa where you buy lavendar infused sea salt and get facials (and not the kind you want). The two sex toy shops, the Leather Rack, on Reason's side of the block (more for the boys), and the Pleasure Chest (across the street, for boys and girls, or maybe girls and girls) are probably doomed by gentrification. I doubt they will both be on this block much longer.
Do you need me to look up on line where you can find what you are looking for out there in South Fart or Simpsonville? If your mom still has a v-chip on your home computer I can google those yellow pages for you.
So who are the "famous" intern alumni?
I'm aware of Taranto. He is an excellent opinion journalist(not that I agree with him) but you guys should have turned him into a dope smoker.
SIV,
Opinion journalism is the sewer of journalism.
Washington, D.C
You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Bruce,
If you were any more fabulous, you would be on sale at Macy's.
That being said, have we scared away the intern candidates yet? Maybe all the eligible candidates have already been hired by Dondero for his Independent bid for Ron Paul's seat.
I'm still waiting to hear if they hire anyone who is old enough to have
1. not used a helmet when riding a bicycle or skateboard as a kid
2. spent Friday nights watching the line-up of The Brady Bunch and the Partridge Family.
3. worn pukka shells and feathered his hair
BTW, one can walk from my place to the Reason offices without getting run over, or they can walk 2 blocks to the Crystal City METRO stop, served by both the Blue and Yellow lines.
excellent, Rick!
we must be cautious!
Will one of the jobs of the intern be to proofread the posts? Please?
Washington, D.C.
You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
If only we could have that put on D.C. license plates!
D.A. Ridgely,
I wonder if DC is following the trend of allowing custom plates? If so, people could petition to have it as one of the custom plate options. Florida must have 100 different plates available.
I have forwarded my resume. I think you will find I am especially sensitive to the needs of powerful men, and I can bring my own kneepads.
Unfortunately, Monica, you failed the all-important "ability to proofread the properly spell your own name" test.
And I failed the "ability to proofread my own goddamned post before posting it" test, but I'm not applying for the internship anyway so that's cool.
Is there an age limit? Top range, not bottom.
Reasonoid One: "Yeah, I just finished the interview with that weirdo."
Reasonoid Two: "What was wrong with him?"
R.One: "He thought the government should cut taxes, rollback regulation and generally limit itself to the Constitution."
R.Two: "OMG! That's unbelievable!"
R.One: "It gets better. He also wanted to abolish the Federal Reserve!"
R.Two: "LOL! What did you do?"
R.One: "I sent him down the street to CATO."
Great posting! You have provided a lot of useful information. You should also check out the site http://www.interncircle.com which seems to be very helpful as well.
