I think the joke is that both liberals and conservatives only care about protecting the identities of covert CIA agents when it is politically convenient.

It's kinda like the Sunday Mark Trail which mostly consists of still lifes of cute woodland critters. Is it supposed to be a zen thing?

So what? Awards are given away all the time to mediocre talents (cf. Grammys, Oscars, etc). It doesn't change the fact that he sucks right now.

C'mon guys, if you have to explain the humor of something, it immediately loses all humor anyway. If you don't get it, just move along.
