Friend of reason Drew Carey will be appearing on Bill Maher's HBO show this Friday, along with Carl Bernstein. More details here.

Speaking of Drew Carey, I'm happy to pitch Reason Foundation's October conference in Washington, which features the D.C. debut of our upcoming videojournalism series with the man himself.

And that's not the only reason to think about attending. From a previous post:

It begins with lunch on Friday, October 26 and concludes Saturday night at Reason's new Washington office with the D.C. launch party of the Drew Carey Project--our upcoming videojournalism series starring Drew Carey.

He still claims it. He mentioned his "libertarian" leanings during the first Ron Paul interview, then about 2 sentences later talked about how we need more federal government.

Yeah, the Mos Def episode was definitely the worst Real Time I've seen.

They call libertarians Republican who want to get high. I consider Maher a Democrat who wants to get high.

I do find his monologues and New Rules funny, however.

I agree with Maher on foreign policy stuff and his criticism of the executive branch power grabs, but I wonder if he would be criticizing them if this were a Democrat.

He also seems to be taking a protectionist streak as of late which I find sickening.

i agree maher is no libertarian but i enjoy watching the show sometimes.(though not this last week-mos def is an idiot) it's good political chat show occasionally to get some stories, ideas and stuff out there even if i don't agree with anyone on there.
i'm not a drew carey fan. i dont' think he's funny and i don't care if i agree with him politically. i know libertarian celebrities are rare but i'll remain a little more selective in fandome i am a fan of clint eastwood(though i don't think he's that libertarian he just gets on those lists occasionally) obvously trey parker and matt stone(do they seriously agree on EVERY issue by the way? political, pop culture or otherwise??) and penn jillette though he's kinda annoying sometimes.

Yes, the Mos Def & Cornel West show was absolutely painful to watch. I couldn't tell if Mr. Def was on something, or just incredibly stupid or even slightly retarded. Bill Maher handled the no-show of his third guest with aplomb, I'll hand him that. And yeah, he's a bit of a lefty, but not as much as his audience or the typical Democrat--which probably causes him to see himself as "libertarian".

libertarian is really just a word democrats and republicans threw out there about themselves when they're burnt out on their parties: ''i'm a sorta libertarian on this issue", "i'm a little more libertarian" etc. i remember seeing some interview with penn and teller and penn is such a cheerleader for the libertarian party that he's almost a zealot. he said he thinks most of the country is libertarian at heart. in this day and age i don't think that's the truth at all, just blind wishfull thinking. everyone thinks their for what freedom and liberty but once they hear the specifics of libertarian principals they shy away. i think everyone has a position on some issue that could be categorized as a libertarian position but very few more then that which would make them even "libertarian-ish" .

bill's audience is terrible they laugh and applaude at the most base lefty/anti-bush stuff, it's like shooting fish in a barrell. the token conservative always get booed even bill gets sick of it somtimes. it is embarrassing how many accolades cornel west has aquired when he's as stupid a man as he is and he was outdone by mos def. they both even lost bill a few times with their b. s.

While Mos Def was, shall we say, less than articulate, I hadn't heard anything about the Jena Six before watching that show. Fascinating stuff. How come I haven't seen anything on Reason about this story?
