Congratulations To Us All Those Wonderful People Out There in the Dark!
Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Press Club announced the winners of the 49th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards. reason was up for four awards, including best investigative magazine story (Radley Balko, for "The Case of Cory Maye"), best commentary/criticism (Tim Cavanaugh, for "Happy 40th Birthday, Star Trek"), best online column/commentary/criticism (Nick Gillespie, for various columns), best news website, and best group blog.
While the rest of us were a little too Alain Mimoun for words, we're happy to announce that reason online's Hit & Run blog took home top honors in the group blog category. Congrats to all the contributors who helped make that happen. And to all you readers, too, for your eyeballs, feedback, and loving vitriol.
The SoCal awards also honored occasional reason contributor Cathy Seipp, who died earlier this year after a long battle with cancer. Cathy was instrumental in building the LA Press Club up and creating a vibrant community of journalists in the City of Angels and beyond. She'll always be missed.

I am collectively patting ourselves on the back for a job well done .... umm .... what did I want to say?
🙂
And, speaking of blogging; Nifong was disbarred Saturday, and there is thus far no post about it.
Not that I would derive any grim satisfaction from the spectacle of overjoyed anti-authoritarians dancing around the mangled, decomposing corpse, or anything.
I'd like to thank Nick, David, Kerry and all the other little people who helped make this possible.
