Hmm, wonder where I could find an interview with their creators?

  2. Grand Chalupa   18 years ago

Does anybody know why in Colorado, South Park episodes come in at 11 pm and Daily Show and Colbert report are always a day late, meaning we never get to see a Friday show?

  3. Ray G   18 years ago

    South what?

  4. Equality 7-2521   18 years ago

    Chalupa,

Do you have Comcast or Dish?

I had Comcast at my house and found my programming schedule to be 3 hours behind of the Dish schedule at my girlfriend's. Thus, the new Daily Show and Colbert Report were on later at my house than hers.

  5. Guy Montag   18 years ago

    Did they kill Kenny?

  6. Equality 7-2521   18 years ago

    To finish my point:

So, on Comcast at my house the previous day's Daily Show would play at the same time the current day's Daily Show was playing on Dish.

  7. violent_k   18 years ago

    Probably, the bastards.

  8. Warren   18 years ago

The Bill Donohue bits gave me half a giggle, but mostly lame. It's almost as if being blogged on Hit and Run has diminished South Park. Or maybe the absence of Kenny and Cartman resulted in this weak week. I suppose it would have been too trite to put SP's perpetually resurrected character in the Easter episode.

  9. Grotius   18 years ago

Donohue and the artist who created the chocolate Jesus sculpture exchange their views here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI5Mqn4Fr5w&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Evideosift%2Ecom%2Fvideo%2FChocolate%2DJesus%2DMakes%2DCatholics%2DCRAZY/

In particular watch Donahue's reaction to the artist's question about other Michelangelo's nudes (it is about mid-point through the exhange).

I thought South Park wasted a chance to explanation where much of Christian tradition comes from i.e. pagan beliefs. Episode was kind of weak, still very funny though.

  11. Graphite   18 years ago

I wonder how many South Park fans actually have any idea who Bill Donohue is. I did get a kick out of imagining him watch, say, the Jesus shuriken scene.

I thought it was a pretty solid episode. Taking the bizarre rituals of Easter and melding them into a Da Vinci Code parody gets high marks from me.

Best line: "Okay, Bill, that's enough. I'm *pretty* sure killing Jesus isn't the Christian thing to do."

  12. Jack   18 years ago

    Grand Chalupa,

There is no Daily Show or Colbert on Friday. I heard it had something to do with Stewart being a Jew and won't work or drive a car on Friday.

    SHOMER SHABBAS!

Was Craig Kilborn a Jew too, then? I think it has more to deal with either giving the writers a break or programming stuff.

  15. Adam   18 years ago

    Back to discussing the episode...
I thought it was hilarious. Bill Donohue is a bully who gives Catholics a bad name, and I thought South Park captured that truth very well tonight. I wonder if he had a rage-induced heart attack watching it.

  16. Brian24   18 years ago

It wasn't the funniest episode ever, but making connections like dying Easter eggs - Da Vinci Code - Bill Donohue is why South Park continues to be the cleverest show on tv.

And "Okay, Bill, that's enough. I'm *pretty* sure killing Jesus isn't the Christian thing to do." did make me laugh pretty hard.

    OY GEVALT!

I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with the fact that much of their target audience isn't home watching tv at 11:00 on Friday nights.

  19. highnumber   18 years ago

My favorite part was where Jesus asked Kyle to kill him. Remember? That was great.

  20. Shem   18 years ago

Dude, Grotius, tinyurl.com is your friend.

  21. highnumber   18 years ago

    Oh, and
    Jack,

Why does Letterman tape his Friday show the day before? Is he Muslim Jewish, too?

Aargh, for those who don't get it - look it up. Think about taping times, sunsets, etc.

  22. Grotius   18 years ago

    Shem,

  23. Grand Chalupa   18 years ago

    I've got comcast.

Good episode. Bill Donahue! What a jerkoff.

I liked the part at the end. They asked the bunny about how they should tell people to live and it said nothing. Yes, beautiful.

  24. J. Goard   18 years ago

Yeah, Comedy Central was originally conceived to be about standup performances, and evolved into Friday night as the big standup night. Not Jon Stewart's judaism, which wouldn't be a problem as the Sabbath starts on Friday sundown and the show is obviously filmed much earlier in the day.

  25. B   18 years ago

I thought the episode was great...much more in the style of the first few seasons, with trippy connections, obscure pop culture references (Jesus throwing the glaive and putting on sunglasses like Blade was pretty awesome) and not so obviously preachy.

  26. Matt   18 years ago

I'm such a nerd I thought that was a Krull reference.

well, we could if you'd blog about it. sheesh.

Any episode that connects The Da Vinci Code, Kill Bill, and the Easter Bunny is fine by me.

  29. Jesse Walker   18 years ago

(Or should that be Kill Bill Donohue?)

  30. muchsarcasm   18 years ago

Oh, that was definitely a Krull reference.

  31. Kris   18 years ago

I thought it was a Krull-Blade combo. Which is awesome no matter how you look at it. Imagine Wesley Snipes vs. the Beast!!
