Wrong Way Rescue
Paramedics called to a fire in Toronto, Canada, arrived about 30 minutes late because a dispatcher sent them to the opposite end of the city to a street with the same name as the one the fire happened on. Reports say the dispatcher failed to check the cross street, as required by protocol. But confusion over street names has been an issue since Toronto merged with four other cities in 1998. Despite concerns raised by Bell Canada, which runs the 911 system, the city council unanimously voted in 2004 to keep duplicate street names.
