Armitage Opens Up; Feels So Bad, He Feels Like a Ball Game on a Rainy Day[*]

Former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage has confirmed 'twas he, not "Scooter" (nor Skeezix, nor Stumpy) Libby what told Bob Novak about Valerie Plame in a scandal so old and obscure now in the mists of history it seems like a hangover from the first and only term of the original George "Read My Hips" Bush:

"I feel terrible," Armitage told CBS News. "Every day, I think, I let down the president. I let down the secretary of state. I let down my department, my family, and I also let down Mr. and Mrs. Wilson."

You know, it's really shocking that even with such class acts as Armitage--men filled with feeling and the icy resolve to stand by and say and do nothing while others take the rap and/or are investigated up the ying-yang--that the State Department isn't even more successful at bring peace to the world today.

Peter Fitzgerald is an honest and capable public servant, a real straight shooter. He says that Rove's actions in shopping around the indentity of a CIA operative's as she was working on the Iranian nuclear program and confirming the information to multiple reporters comes up short of the legal standard for an indictment under federal law, and I believe him.
