New European equal rights laws could spell an end to ladies night promotions at bars and clubs. The laws call for men and women to have access to goods and services equally, and some lawyers say that allowing ladies into a club free while men have to pay would be illegal under the rules. So would promotions that give women breaks on the price of drinks. Single-sex clubs would also be illegal unless they serve a "legitimate claim" under the rules.
