Counting Your Pennies
The Federal Reserve and the U.S. Treasury Department want to expand the record-keeping required of financial services companies. Currently, banks and other companies are required to record the names, addresses and other information of any customers transferring more than $3,000. The feds are considering reducing or eliminating the minimum amount required for reporting, saying it would help fight terrorism and money laundering.
