Phone Sex: The Anti-Anti-Drug
One of Tennessee's anti-drug strategies apparently involves a hotline for at-risk kids who are sitting around thinking "What are the dangers of meth?" and decide to seek an immediate answer from the state of Tennessee. A brilliant strategy to be sure; alas, a neglectful typist has foiled the plan:
A mass mailing intended to warn young people about the dangers of methamphetamine inadvertently included a hotline number that rings to a telephone sex line.
The mailing was part of a statewide anti-meth campaign sponsored by a prosecutors' group.
"It's an unfortunate mistake when somebody types a 9 when there should have been an 8," said Coffee County District Attorney General Mickey Lane, whose office received several complaints. "What are the odds (of) it being a business such as this. I'm told that it's been corrected."

Yeah...who ever heard of a 900 number used for phone sex? Astonishing...
Well if you waste all your money on a 900 number, you can't buy meth. Wonder if the state will reimburse any of the kids who actually called it. I think if I got a mailing that had a toll free 900 number on it, I'd give it a try. I bet a lot of the guys who frequent this site are familiar with 900 numbers, or are those antiquated now with all of the internet porn?
Trust me, access to a phone sex line is the last thing you want to give a methhead.
What are the odds...
Pretty high. The more government does, the more it screws up.
Well, phone sex and wanking are a good incentive to stay off meth since the drug inhibits the ability to sustain erection. what's the point of being horny for 5 hours if you can't do anything about it?
Classic.
That is all.
I guess the only good thing about the drug war is its entertainment value 🙂

Actually they're pretty high odds. I have inadvertently called many a sex line (800 numbers that will eventually ask for a credit card) in the course of business. Misdial by one digit or reverse two digits and it's good for a laugh. It's always amusing when I'm dialing on speakerphone and a client is sitting in front of me...
Back in 1994-1996 range when I worked at CompUSA in customer service, I periodically heard complaints from Mac users who called 1-800-S0S-APPLE for tech support instead of 1-800-SOS-APPLE.
If I were the phone sex company, I would have made it sound like some kind of crazy kinky Mac support vixen. It probably would have been much more popular.

You've been hanging around the wrong sort of tweakers haven't you? Don't always believe what the gov't tells you. I was a tweaker back in the bad old days (like 6 or 7 days up at a time) and sustained erections were the norm. Christ on a bike, it's the only thing I miss about those days. Hell, I was doing loads of heroin and the whole benzodiazepine family at the time. If anything, speed was my saving grace. I could have never maintained it without the speed.
Never did get the attraction of sex lines though...
Interesting topic, I wonder how many people call those phone sex lines?
A lot of people must call those phone sex lines and I'll bet it makes a lot of money too.
Phone sex is alive and well despite webcams, internet porn and good information on prostitution. Yes it is profitable 😉

I find great income, and I enjoy chatting to the girls as well
There is a lot of cash to be spent, and made in this area. It is surprising seeing what you can get for free online, but there you go...
Pretty interesting read, despite it being a few years old now it still seems to hold true.
Great read. Phone sex is a thriving industry. You'd be surprised!
Phone sex is not only to think talking to each other on phone, it's a fantastic way to fulfill your wildest fantasies privately.
Implausible Idea! We also emphasize on it.
