Those Shy Prohibitionists
Newsday columnist Ellis Henican reports on Ethan Nadelmann's attempt to persuade CPAC attendees that the war on drugs violates conservative principles. Calvina Fay of the Drug Free America Foundation, who had agreed to debate Nadelmann, backed out at the last minute, complaining that the moderator, Rob Kampia of the Marijuana Policy Project, was on Nadelmann's side. Henican says "drug-war defender Gary Cobb" took her place. I'm not sure who that is, but it's telling that it's so hard to scare up a vocal prohibitionist at one of the country's biggest conservative gatherings. Last year, you may recall, Nadelmann's debate partner actually agreed with him about the war on drugs and spent his time attacking Drug Policy Alliance donor George Soros.

hoodia is my new favorite poster. Even more fun than RPG!
Wow, and the server blocks me out when I link to just three different sites at a time. Did Abramhoff get to Reason, too? 🙂
Awesome! I needed a new source for Xanax.
estonian!!!
This gives me a reason to suggest we divert a few killer Predator drones away from Pakistan and instead target spam houses. In fact I would like to see a box on my 1040 form to donate to this cause.
OK, we've got a new drug-related thread, so place your bets! When is the latest incarnation of Juanita going to drop in?
why didn't they just get that dorky supervirgin kid who wrote the porn book? he hates everything even remotely fun!
Because, dhex, that'd be like shooting fish in a barrel. Which would be fun, thusly making it prohibited.
thoreau, we should've anticipated hoodia's removal. Now our comments read like the sound of one hand clapping.
Better that than the sound of one hand typing.
My understanding is that the Gary Cobb who was at the event is a former football player turned talk radio host.
Rick Barton, that was well done.
Thanks Stevo. Those were wild political times!
