Attn, DC Reasonoids: Happy Hour Tonight!
Come out tonight, Wednesday, November 16, and join Reason's DC staff as we celebrate our December issue and back-to-back months of record-setting traffic at Reason Online (over 1.7 million visits in September and October).
And come meet our extra-special special guest stars for the evening:
Randy Barnett is the Austin B. Fletcher Professor of Law at Boston University and the man who argued for the good guys in Gonzales v. Raich, the wrongly decided Supreme Court case about medical marijuana.
Scott Bullock and Dana Berliner are senior attorneys at the Institute for Justice. Scott argued the right side in Kelo v. New London, the wrongly decided Supreme Court case about eminent-domain abuse. Dana is similarly well-regarded for her legal prowess when it comes to challenging eminent-domain abuse; she is the author of Public Power, Private Gain, which documents over 10,000 cases of eminent domain abuse.
Tim Harford is the author of the great new book The Undercover Economist: Exposing Why the Rich Are Rich, the Poor Are Poor--and Why You Can Never Buy a Decent Used Car!
And then there's the Reason crew what'll be in attendance: Ronald Bailey, Kerry Howley, Julian Sanchez, Jacob Sullum, Jesse Walker, and your humble narrator.
We'll be meeting at Mackey's at 1823 L Street NW, Washington DC around 6:30PM.

I hear the setter there is excellent.
Why don't you ever have Reason Happy Hours in Boston? We could use a little libertarian lovin' around here.
Pat,
Organize one. There are some of us in CT who could come. joe lives out that way, too. I would suggest the people's republik in cambridge for irony's sake.
What David said. We have these in D.C. because a bunch of us live in or around D.C. You live somewhere else; get a critical mass together and e-mail one of us the details. We'll announce it here, as we did for the gathering Jennifer put together in New York a while back.
Sounds like the stirrings of a third-party movement...
It's been discussed at http://grylliade.org/ that several of us hope joe puts together a Beantown event, but I'd go if Patrick threw one.
It should be noted that no Reason staff joined us at the Bethesda get-together this past weekend.
Not implying anything, just sayin'...

Jeff P.,
Far be it from the Reason staff to descend off their lofty perches to mingle with the H&R gang, who are mere commonfolk. You know very well that it would be socially unfit for bourgeoisie like them to be mixing with the unwashed masses.
On a tangent, you're all off of my Christmas card list. 🙂
I don't know smacky, they seem to invite us to their shin digs all the time. ...and they come down from their tower to talk to us quite often. Have you ever e-mailed one of the Reason gods? ...They e-mail you back.
We should take them up on their offers every once in a while. ...but there is like a strange invisible barrier between media people and the rest of us I think. ...We've all seen George Burns and Woody Allen break the barrier and speak to the audience directly.
...Breakin' that barrier from the other side by showin' up at a Reason event would feel strange the first time you did it, I think. It'd be like walkin' into the picture of your TV. ...besides, it's harder to denounce people in person. ; )
Ken Shultz,
I was just joking in my previous comment. Just thought I'd try and rustle someone's feathers.
....Ok, I was trolling.
Hi smacky, gtcu 🙂
The party was great and the place didn't run out of liquids.
It will take a few days for my vocal cords to heal and my ears to stop ringing.
Hey, attention: Ever Alert DC Council!
You're missing out on a niche you haven't yet regulated. How about a study of noise levels in DC establishments and their effect on the economy due to increased sales of cold ones to keep those cords cool. Hard to tell where this could go. The possibilities are awesome! Ditch the smoking ban, it's paltry in comparison!
