My ($595) Dinner With Novak
Sydney "Killing Fields" Schanberg reports that Bob Novak is offering a "confidential" session with his own bad self and other members of the Beltway elite, "100% off the record," for the low low price of $595. From the invite:
Dear friend, When was the last time you sat in a room just a few feet from the likes of Vice President Cheney or Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, asked a question and got a straightforward answer? […]
Each speaker speaks briefly about the issues of the day, then opens the floor to questions--any questions. The answers are frank and open, because there are no reporters.
I'll say. (Link via Romenesko.)

I hope Jon Stewart buys a ticket incognito.

Another reason to hope blogging penetrates further into the culture. Screw walking in there with "NYT" or "WaPo" pinned to your chest. Go in there and blog what you hear.
Wait...so a reporter is stating that news reporting cannot be trusted because it's being reported by...reporters?

Cretans always lie, but they will tell you that they're liars? 😉
At least Novak's admitting that he's not a reporter.
Considering their rarity, that's a bargain even for just one straightforward answer from Dick Cheney. You could pay your $595, then turn around and sell it on eBay for $100,000.
Is everyone missing Matt's joke?
Novak::ostensibly a reporter --> there are no reporters --> "I'll say" ?
T. Coach,
And the "confidential" nature of this coming from the man resonsible for the Plame/Wilson v. Libby/Rove imbroglio. And no one wondering if Judith Miller is offering a share-a-prison-dinner-with-Judy evening for $5.95...
Also, Borat would be much better at this than Ali G.
If there is a God in heaven, Jon Stewart will attend.
I'd gladly pay $595 to show up, grumble "This is bullshit!", then storm out in a huff. I'd wait until after dessert, of course.
What I think is funny is that Novak asks for is similar to a John asking the prostitute to suck him off and then pay him for the service!
For $600, I really hoping that they're serving more than Chef Boyardee because who the hell would want to spend a dinner with...Robert Novak? Blahhh.

The man looks like this priest I knew as a kid. He always seemed to have this blob of white spit on the side of his mouth, and his smelled like a sewer.
