Congratulations to Us (Slow News Tues. Edition)!
Last year, Reason made a fine showing at the 46th annual Southern California Journalism Awards (sponosored by the great and invaluable Los Angeles Press Club), with Science Correspondent Ronald Bailey taking home the top prize in the magazine feature category and the whole Reason Online crew doing the same in the online column/commentary/criticism category (details here).
I'm proud to announce that this time around, we've got a finalist (Associate Editor Matt Welch) in the entertainment/reviews/criticism/column category and a trilogy of terror (Welch, Web Editor Tim Cavanaugh, and me) in the Online column/commentary/criticism category.
A complete list of finalists is online here. The winners will be announced June 11.

Is there an oxymoron in the category title?
Congrats to Ron, but I have to note that he slights Robert Goddard in his piece today when he dubs Jack Parsons the "father of American rocketry."
