Court approved wiretaps were up 19 percent last year; the majority, surprise surprise, for drug cases.

"the majority, surprise surprise, for drug cases."

I am surprised. I thought it was easier now to just say, you heard it whispered in the dark of night that the suspect once gave the time of day to a terrorist and BAM instant wiretap. Then again, those taps are probably not included in that figure.

  3. mediageek   21 years ago

Ah, yes, but remember, drugs support terrorism, so if you're guilty of violating drug policy then you're guilty of consorting with terrorists.

Funny how they use one phony "war" to prop up another.

mediageek- you need to keep up with the meme.

It's no longer a "war on terrorism", the new term is extremism.

  5. KipEsquire   21 years ago

Also, not a single warrant application for a wiretap was turned down by a judge last year.

It's no longer a "war on terrorism", the new term is extremism.

    I am so fucked.

Especially since I can't seem to figure out how to properly use the HTML tags to italicize text.

    BLAST!

  9. Cassandra   21 years ago

Yes, but luckily Sneak and Peak is "rarely" used.

    Heh.

  10. Larry A   21 years ago

An unasked question, of course, is, "How many of the drug-case wiretaps actually involve situations where there actually are drugs?" References incude the mythical meth lab that jstified Army equipment at the Branch Davidian compound.
