Closing In

Bush is four points up in Ohio. Fox is calling the Buckeye state for Bush. I don't see how Kerry can pull it out with what he's got left. Anybody got any Kerry survival scenarios?

Fox isn't calling Ohio for Bush. Cuyahoga County, home of Cleveland (and the incredible pro-Kerry absentee ballot), is still not reporting.

Ohio would have to be contested. So far, only Fox is calling it, as far as I know, and I would expect lawsuits.

Fox is also calling ME's 2nd congressional district for Bush, so that's why they're 1 vote off from everyone else.

Yeah, I'm not sure how Bush wins if he gets Ohio. He still has to get NM. Or Iowa. Doesn't seem like he has much of a chance anywhere else. Especially if Greg is right about the WV elector, Alaska won't cut it.

James Carville is practically conceding for Kerry. That man is the devil. Love him or hate him, he knows what he is talking about. I can't imagine him being wrong in Bush's favor.

I have a feeling that the gay marriage issue lost this for the Democrats. Maybe not, but it seems that a lot of people who might have either stayed home or voted Kerry because they were less than impressed by Bush voted for him instead because Kerry was seen as being for gay marriage. Many states that were leaning for Kerry went Bush because of the rural vote just edging out the urban vote.

Might have been better overall for gays to wait another decade and just let the whole issue land in their laps. Instead, they tried to press the issue, and it scared people. Not that I blame them; why should they have to wait? But it might have backfired a bit. God, I hate this country sometimes. Most of the time not, but . . . things like this piss me off.

I voted for John Kerry because I wanted the simple slim fucking chance of SOMEONE stopping the DEA raids on medical marijuana states.

Relevant? At least in one additional state, it is.

Apparently the people of Alaska haven't got enough of a vague grasp on what should be BASIC FREEDOM to pass Prop 2 either.

But I still voted for John Kerry, just on the off chance MMJ collectives could operate in peace.

That possibility is infinitely better than tickling my prostate with a "tax return" that means diddly-jackie chan-shit, anyway.

Offer people a few hundred bucks, and how easily some "Libertarians" (or whichever title the staunchly Bush-voting niche among us prefer, plus suggestive quotation) forget to support inroads into one of the biggest obstacles to freedom in this country [the War on Drugs].

I don't even know where I was going with this, but damn.... Just....
