  1. Agreed. But it’s one of the downfalls of free speech (according to John Burnett in this editorial) that politicians can lie, lie, lie and no one can do anything about it. Except vote them out of office, of course.

I think the saddest part about the lies is the willingness of otherwise intelligent people to believe them, to believe things that are almost patently false about the other candidate, and vote for the liar that promises them more, ‘just in case’ it’s the truth. It’s just mind-boggling how many people will go along with the lies to keep the gravy river flowing their way.

    Huh, and I thought the saddest part was the candidates’ attempts to deceive the American public like late-night infomercial hucksters. Silly me.
