I've Got a Feelin' Somebody's Watching Me
Several times today, I've gone outside and noticed a low-flying blimp drifting along through the D.C. skies. Being a natural paranoid, my first thought was of the Fuji spy blimp used during the RNC to keep an eye on protesters. Of course, these days, sometimes the paranoid instinct is the right one.

At least it's not asking you to go an offworld colony...or singing in Japanese...yet.
"Authorities say the airship is equipped with infrared cameras designed to provide real-time images to military commanders on the ground. The equipment on the blimp already is being used to protect troops in Afghanistan and Iraq."
Wow. It can see both Iraq and Afghanistan from D.C.? That thing has some long lenses! 😉
Well if they do, ever, you might get a chance to see attack ships on fire off Arcturus... or date Daryl Hannah... just don't ask Leon about his Mother.
That's '...off the shores of Orion...' I believe.
Maybe you could ask them to keep an eye on your apartment, Julian.
it's the "shoulder of orion", sheesh!
Good point, Douglas! 😉
Sorry it's been decades since I saw the movie. I love the line, "Wake up Decker, it's time to DIE."
Just cause yer not paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Hey Julian, keep an eye on how many DC pot growers get busted this week. Maybe this blimp is part of the Target America campaign!
I've nicknamed it "Security Mom."
PEDANT ALERT
I believe the proper lyrics to Rockwell's 1984 Top 10 hit are "I always feel like somebody's watching me ..."

woah, who unclogged the drainpipe?
I too have noticed that everything is followed by the "Technology X is being used to protect troops in Afghanistan and Iraq."
I'd be more interested in a list of products that *aren't* being used by our troops in Iraq.
I guess they could say the same thing about F-18's dropping JDAMS in DC. Since they're using the same technology in Iraq, it must be OK!
I'd also be interested in defense department toys that are "also being used to protect Wal-Mart in Grove City, OH". That'd be some good readin'!
Neb has a point about the language that they use. "Protecting our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan" sounds so much better than "finding houses to bomb and doing damage assessments."
You all are so paranoid. I, for one, don't mind if America's Blimp is keeping a protective eye out for us. Plus, it's sooooooo cute!
