Highway Robbers
Pittsburgh police recovered Burton Nord's car—undamaged—about an hour after it was stolen from him at gunpoint one Saturday night. That's the good news. The bad news is that the police then held the car hostage until Nord forked over a $145 towing charge. The police say he could have had the car back for free if he'd been willing to wait until Monday for the police chief to release it. But he says he was never offered that option.
