Prime-Time Puppetry
Regarding the Fox News feed Julian saw drawing howls of derision yesterday, I was perched across from it for an hour, and the coverage choices were hilarious. Only the very occasional live protest shot, but plenty of feature stories about "political pooches," and footage of George W. Bush striding across various lawns. Not as good as Roger Ailes' famous move of handing anti-Fox demonstrators Fox News umbrellas when they were being soaked by a sudden downpour…. Meanwhile, over at the C-SPAN empire, one of the channels reputedly had puppet-to-puppet coverage of the entire six-plus-hour parade, which must have made media critics like Herbert Gans—and absolutely nobody else—quite happy.
