I liked Julia's show. One show she was baking with a large amount of cream. With a perfectly straight face she said "I once thought I was pregnant but it turned out my stomach was just bilious with cream". I'm going to miss her.
She seems to have lived a full and productive life, and her exit is timely. This whole obsession with carbs these days would eliminate 90% of her menu.
Only if you could get past her expertly wielded turkey fork and carbon steel knives, which I bet you couldn't.
She's a hero in the expansion of pleasure and options in the USA. I had more martinis than usual for lunch in her honor.
So, will she be cremated?

Amen to that.
An inspiration to us all. Even if she never used enough shark fin 🙂
And remember: Save the liver!
How did she make it to ninety-plus? Could it be because of joy and passion for life? I'd like to think so.
Julia was a good sport, too. Reportedly, she loved Dan Ackroyd's parody of her on SNL. She also helped defeat the Axis, working for the OSS in The Big One.
Kevin
Julia once (actually, many times) lamented that here in the US we were awash in good ingredients for good food but have become afraid to eat. She loved butter, foie gras, well marbled beef and lived joyfully to 91. God bless her.
Remember, it's not that health food makes you live longer, it just makes it seem longer.
Wow.
She was always one of those "mythical" people to me, the ones I always sort of expected to live forever. Sort of like Dick Clark.

Didn't Churchill make it into his nineties, all the while sucking down a fifth of Scotch a day?
Then again there's probably some venal 90 year old bastard out there right now taking a stroll so he can live to annoy another day.
