The obvious next step would seem to be to file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission, just for yucks.

So let me get this straight ... According to Liberals (word-manglers) you can kill Osama Bin Laden, but you can't call him a bad-name? You can't insult him before you kill him?

Does anyone else get the distinct impression that Liberals really aren't all that eager for Bin Laden to be Dead?

To be honest, a lot of them give every impression they would be much happier if Bush were Dead.

But let's not go accusing them of being unpatriotic. The word manglers don't like when you use terms in a consistent fashion. That's a big no-no.

  2. Paul Z   21 years ago

Osama bin Laden isn't a pussy?

  3. Kronos   21 years ago

Serpent, that blog entry just went right over your head didn't it? Do you really believe that Jacobs was objecting to Bin Laden being called names? He was commenting on the sad state of what constitutes discourse on Fox News.

  4. Mo   21 years ago

    Serpent,
    I didn't realize that being a pussy was a capital offense. I don't think Stalin's a pussy, but I'm sure glad he's dead.

  5. c   21 years ago

I don't think whether Osama's a pussy or not is really the issue here. The fact that he preaches martyrdom and wasn't himself at the controls of a plane isn't much proof one way or the other. It's probably not even worth mentioning that most leaders are not the ones in the vanguard, fixing their bayonnets. The question at hand was whether or not calling him a pussy counts as expert policy analysis.

If it does, then I'd like to point out to Fox News that I am free to offer at least that much expertise, and probably cheaper than Maj. Bevelacqua.

  6. Brian   21 years ago

OBL is a pussy, Major Bob is a big freakin' tool, and Jacobs was just plain lazy on his column this week.

Some of us are dangerously close to taking this seriously.

  7. Sir Real   21 years ago

I'm a gay man, and I still believe Pussy deserves MUCH MORE respect than Osama Bin Laden.

    You must respect the Pussy...

  8. The Serpent   21 years ago

Kronos: He was commenting on the sad state of what constitutes discourse on Fox News.

Yeah, because you never hear an ad hominem attack on CCN ? right?

? at least not against Bin Laden.

    ------------------

MO: I didn't realize that being a pussy was a capital offense.

    Did someone say it was?

    MO: I don't think Stalin's a pussy, but I'm sure glad he's dead.

Define "a Pussy". Maybe we are using different definitions?

    ----------------

C: I don't think whether Osama's a pussy or not is really the issue here. The fact that he preaches martyrdom and wasn't himself at the controls of a plane isn't much proof one way or the other.

Ohh, I think you missed the point.

  9. Walter Wallis   21 years ago

Yeah, but where are the weapons of mass destruction? Toto, stop pulling away that curtain in front of that chemical ordnance alongside the road, nothing there, move on, how about them Fox pussies, hey? And that Green Beret guy, just because he served honorably in combat on our side he thinks he knows about honor, hu?
Geez! I need a NPR fix.

  10. Friendsof pussyandthensome   21 years ago

I`m a Happy Heterosexual man that agrees with the gay man Sir Real.
    You must respect the PUSSY!

  11. xray   21 years ago

Walter: That's weapon of mass destruction.

  12. Kevin Carson   21 years ago

The point, which quite a few are missing, is that this was aired on Fox News, with a culture war over Janet Jackson's tit raging in the background, and authoritarian theocratic nutjobs like Brent Bozell calling for a $500,000 fine per offense. So where's Mr. Bozell now? For that matter, where is all the constant media chatter about whether pro-choice *Republican* politicians will be denied communion? The selective perception of these professionally outraged people--the fact that obscenity on Fox News doesn't count--indicates what intellectual whores they are.

  13. The Real Rodger Jacobs   21 years ago

Hey, Gang. The real RD Jacobs here. Glad to see my bit got some good discourse going, which, as Kronos pointed out, was the thrust of my commentary. The idea that calling someone such as UBL a pussy denigrates the national and international discourse to school yard taunts.

  14. Walter Wallis   21 years ago

"...that chemical ordnance alongside the road..." is singular, but a single item is a subset of the set. Unless you believe that Saddam made one Saran shell and then dismantled the factories.

  15. Dan   21 years ago

What I really wonder is how Taylor stumbled across that twit's website in the first place. He reminds me of the pompous ex-Communications majors who serve me my coffee at Starbuck's.

  16. Skeptikos   21 years ago

I have to admit to having mixed feelings as I read everyones comments. Especially as I read about the evasions by the military brass in DC today, as they try to evade culpability:

    http://www.csmonitor.com/2004/0520/p01s02-usmi.html

    http://news.ft.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=FT.com/StoryFT/FullStory&c=StoryFT&cid=1084907696699

    http://www.sanluisobispo.com/mld/sanluisobispo/news/politics/8706038.htm

Cause you know...the similar words came to mind as I was reading about our proud officer class today. But perhaps the real RD Jacobs has a point. But I need a really virulent name to call these guys...cause man they make me ill. Any suggestions?

  17. Walter Wallis   21 years ago

We all remember how the entire democrat caucus resigned when the whorehouse in Barny Frank's apartment was discovered, don't we?

  18. The Real Rodger Jacobs   21 years ago

I'm with Taylor. Let's file an FCC complaint.

Dan, sorry you don't like Strike the Root -- not my site, just a contributor -- but this discussion resulted in hundreds of hits to my column so we must be doing something right.

Skepticos, feel free to call them pussies. You are not, after all, a Fox News contributor so decorum be damned -- well, ummmm, actually there's no decorum or manners over at Fox either.

    Never mind.

  19. Ruthless   21 years ago

This whole thread is nothing but compulsive about "pussy."

What I wanted to add, and haven't had the chance before now, is that the nutcase who sowed the seed of this thread would appear to be a soulmate of mine.

Could anyone fathom what the hell he was talking about, except for the word, "pussy"?

  20. joe   21 years ago

So, Major Bob, what does that make Dick "Undisclosed Location" Cheney? Or George "Grounded Airplane" Bush?

  21. Joe L.   21 years ago

    Uh Joe, how about:

    1) Alive
    2) Successful leaders of modern political movements
    3) Appearing in press and in person

all in DISTINCT opposition to Mr. Bin Laden who represents the antithesis of the three above qualities. Yes, I subscribe to a dead Usama but a nice bit of digital editing to account for his "voice" on tape.

  22. jc   21 years ago

By logical extension, security is pussified.

  23. joe   21 years ago

I'm not knocking Bush and Cheney here, Joe L, I'm knocking Major Shoots-his-mouth-off.

  24. FastNBulbous   21 years ago

Oh, the horror, the horror! Someone called a mass murderer a name on television!

What has happened to the level of discourse in this country? The Europeans will disapprove! The Arab street will rise up in anger!

No wonder they hate us. We're so uncivilized!!

  25. Rodger Jacobs   21 years ago

    joe is a pussy, too.

  26. Richard   21 years ago

I don't think that calling joe a pussy is going to be helpful to the discourse. That is just rude and completely uncalled for. However, Usama is a pussy. If he really does believe in martyrdom, he should have been at the controls during 9-11.

  27. B.P.   21 years ago

The author of the blog entry (presumably the other Rodger Jacobs) might want to reflect before accusing others of assinine commentary.

JAT's suggestion to file a complaint with the FCC is a hoot, though.

  28. Rodger Jacobs   21 years ago

Add Richard to the Pussy List.

  30. Hydroman   21 years ago

Damn! There is a bad to the bone article in that striketheroot.com , it is:
"COVER YOUR ASS AND GET HOME SAFE:AN OPEN LETTER TO THE OCCUPIERS."
    By Douglas Herman

  31. kevrob   21 years ago

Unlike Mr. Bush (hee-hee, I typed "bush"), I was not raised Texican.
I do believe, though, that the proper insult to hurl at him would be...

    "wussy."

    Kevin

  32. Rodger Jacobs   21 years ago

    The Real Rodgers Jacobs?

    Pussy.

  33. crimethink   21 years ago

Too bad the FCC doesn't police cable TV. *zing*
