Everyone should go buy the book today. Then quickly turn to the acknowledgements section.
Then think to yourselves, "that Greg Newburn sure is a self-aggrandizing asshole."
Perhaps, but a "brilliant" self-aggrandizing asshole nonetheless.
Hey, finally a punk rock headline reference I get!
Oh, and by the way--
Unlike libertarian-themed movies, Black Flag references are most assuredly NOT lame. This is the kind of libertarian culture I can get with.
Why not:
Gimme Gimme Gimme,
Gimme a Break.
I read Stossel's book and it is good. I think he does a good job of relating to his audience who only know left/right politics, none of this "common sense" libertarianism. Makes a good gift for non-libertarians! 😉
btw, is Stossel still on 20/20? Is he a regular on the show? After reading his book, I tried to program my Tivo to record his segments, but I couldn't find 20/20 or his name in the program guides. The 20/20 web site is not very clear about whether he is a regular on the show or not..
Swamp Justice......lol@ABC not being clear about his position on the show. Not surprising.
But, he's actually co-anchor.......or was until Babba-wah-wah left the show recently.
He expected to remain on the show.
I wish they'd just give him the whole damn hour.
Funny they don't make it clear on their website..heheh.
> Many self-professed libertarians would, I suspect, not be uncomfortable with enhanced search and seizure powers, a renewed military draft, or mandatory jail time for paparazzi.
The line that DJ quotes ("Many self-professed libertarians would, I suspect, not be uncomfortable with enhanced search and seizure powers, a renewed military draft, or mandatory jail time for paparazzi.") is a bit of a puzzler. Care to name the libertarians you're talking about, Tim?
Speaking of drafts, how about a political draft for elected officials?
Might help lower the influence of special interests......or maybe not. 😉
shanep,
You want to force ordinary people to be politicians? What a cruel heartless individual you are!
I'm just thinking perhaps elections based on "lottery" would lessen the impact of special interests financing campaigns and more "disinterested" individuals serving who haven't had time to build up coalitions.
Maybe we should also have a gov't sunset provision?
We start over every so many years and review every single law and reg and vote on each one........might take awhile. 🙂
