In defense of Kerry, this is a typical "let's go to a bowling alley and prove I'm a regular guy" stunt. The ones that really make me want to toss cookies are the "lend me a shotgun and we'll go hunting to prove I'm pro-Second Amendment" photo ops. At least the candidates aren't voting to register bowling balls and make folks wait seven days for a lane.

But given Zogby's latest poll showing overwhelming pro-gun support we're liable to see lots more of the latter. (http://www.olearyreport.com/)

If the Libertarian Party was smart, they would nominate Dave Barry as the LP presidential candidate in 2004. This would gather more news and a larger, more receptive audience than the LP's current loser candidates.

  3. GoonFood   22 years ago

Yeah, but nobody has ever accused the LP of winning elections 🙂 Seriously though, the LP is great to have around but isn't going to win any big elections, or really change the face of national level elections for a long time yet. At least that's what my gut tells me...

  4. JayD   22 years ago

Who ARE the LP's current candidates? I'm just planning on putting a check next to a nameless 'L' at this point.

    Money:
As the crowd dispersed, I overheard this exchange between an Edwards volunteer and a bowler:

Bowler: Go Bush. You guys suck.

Volunteer: You shouldn't generalize. We don't ALL suck.

    Bowler: Yeah, you do.

  6. Jesse Walker   22 years ago

Yeah, that was my favorite part too.

    Dave Barry for Pres!!

How about a Dave Barry - PJ O'Rourke ticket?

  9. dj of raleigh   22 years ago

    Pancakes & bowling balls!
    Dean flips, Clark flops and
    Edwards strikes out and splits.
Reports like this tell me that
they're going to cut down John E.

When he was running for Senate,
Edwards came to my work place,
    smiled, shook hands,
    sat down a bit,
    said YES a lot,
    left and never came back.
    What's not to like?

I heard great NPR coverage of this event (fiasco) last night driving down Fla's (The Ronald Reagan) Turnpike. I loved the Bowling League member/school board employee's comment that Edwards "blows bleep bleep bleep........" (too bad you can't lip read on radio).:)

"The Bowling Hairdos" would be cool name for a rock n' roll band.
