The First SOTU Address
On the eve of George W. Bush's number tonight, here's the first State of the Union address, by Geo. Washington, courtesy of NBC4.com. The more some things change…
Beefed-up military spending ("To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace"); immigration reform ("the terms on which foreigners may be admitted to the rights of Citizens, should be speedily ascertained by a uniform rule of naturalization"); and pork-barrel spending ("Whether [citizenship and education] will be best promoted by affording aids to seminaries of learning already established, by the institution of a national university, or by any other expedients, will be well worthy of a place in the deliberations of the Legislature") all make an appearance.
But where's the Mars mission?
