    Jews and Christians everywhere rejoice.

Adam Sandler rests a little easier knowing that he doesn't have to do a last-minute update of that damned Hannukah song.

  2. NoStar   22 years ago

Michael Jackson joined Islam because he misunderstood when he heard Muslims "prey" five times a day.

  3. Erasmus   22 years ago

Is there any scholarly study out there that explains why black felons find Islam so appealing? It seems to me that, if you're shopping for a god, you might look for one with a better track record. Is it simply a tribal thing: "God" for whitey, "Allah" for people "of color"? Seems rather, ahem, you know, RACIST...

MJ just loaded the Jerry Falwell theological cannon aimed at Islam. He'll have all of Islam judged by our own estranged King of Pop.

HA HA HA HAHA AHHAHA AHHH HA HA HA HA HA OH HO HO OH MY AH HA HA HA HAAAA HAHAHAHA hee hee hee [snicker snicker] hoooooooo

Erasmus - I think most Christians, if the thought about it, realize that Jesus was Semitic, but all of the classical art portrays him as western European. Just like we don't really think that God has long flowy white hair and a beard, but it's convenient. Often to our detriment.

The greatest thing about Michael Jackson is, just when you think that his existence could not possibly become any more bizarre and outrageous... he proves you so wrong.

the thing that always killed me about medieval christianity in particular is that they were blaming jews for killing a jew - by overlooking that he was a jew.

    boggleboggleboggle!

until anti-semitism became unfashionable post WWII/vatican II and other cultural manifestations i always wondered how father mclaughlin style catholics and christians could reconcile their hatred for jews with their love of one particular radical rabbi.

i dunno what my homeboy yeshua looked like, but that motherfucker was definitely married. they all called him rabbi, and y'all ain't gonna have an unmarried rabbi. speaking of which i like all this recent faux historical studies (And a few decent texts overall) on the mary magdalene "was, like, a disciple and stuff" thing. unfortunately catholics already have one goddess to worship and most of the rest of christendom has little or no use for female divinities so i dunno where this is going to go. except for really bad classes in womens' studies groups, of course. and poorly-written rebuttal books by apologetics and apoplectics, of course.

"unfortunately catholics already have one goddess to worship"

Nice whore/Virgin dialectic you got there. Why can't we just treat her the same was as Peter and Paul?

    dhex:

The irony is that if Jesus hadn't been crucified - i.e. died for our sins - the whole of Christianity would crumble like an Armenian highrise. Rather than blame the Jews, good Christians should pool their resources and buy them a nice Arab-free country, as thanks.

    Isn't Canada mostly available?

How likely is that Jackson will be murdered in prison?

  12. Gwyn Thomas   22 years ago

It's in the Post,so it must be true.

  13. Mr. Nice Guy   22 years ago

I wonder if they are going to have a "million boy" march now?

  14. M. Simon   22 years ago

You know that was my take on it: preparing for prison.

As to the lure of Islam to criminals - simple. If you do unto a non-Muslim it's not a crime. Instant total and complete absolution for past present and future crimes. It's a holy war.

  15. joe   22 years ago

So is Michael going to start wearing the suit and bow tie?

Whatever else you can say about the NOI, those guys are snappy dressers.

  16. s.m. koppelman   22 years ago

The Jehovah's Witnesses and hippie rabbi Shmuley Boteach must be relieved.

  17. dhex   22 years ago

erasmus - same reason white convicts often kick it jesus style, probably.

  18. Erasmus   22 years ago

    dhex:
Is that why there's such resistance among whites when somebody speculates that Jesus may have been black? I wonder if there would be "white flight" from Christianity if that were somehow proven true...

Um, I've seen this article posted several places now, but it's always linked back to the New York Post. Anyone have a reputable source for it?

And I'd be at least as careful comparing the Nation of Islam with Benazir Bhutto's Islam as I would be comparing Jerry Falwell with a Quaker.

That was rather ignorant, don't you think?

  21. Mike   22 years ago

Nation of Islam Islam doesn;t have lots incommon with moderate Islam or even most of the fanatical sects. It's something else.

  22. DFH   22 years ago

"it's always linked back to the New York Post. Anyone have a reputable source"?

Now there is my favorite quote of the week. 🙂
