I'll see your "heh", and raise a "lol". That is very funny.

Of course now you are going to have to put up with the venting anger and hatred of the entire Islamic community, but I guess that is the price you pay for poking fun at those with no sense of humor.

OK, this is nitpicking, but it's a pet peeve ... to "coin" a phrase means to invent a phrase. As in, to mint your very own figure of speech. Very few of us have done it.

But almost every time I hear the phrase "coin a phrase" (now I wonder who coined that one ...), the writer is trying to say "borrow a phrase." In this case, I think it's an InstaPundit homage.

I'll coin a phrase, or at propose a term: Sanchez; of or referring to ephemeral pop-culture trivia.

As in, "Jesus, not another Sanchez! Gay humor is sooo 20th century."

The "Dirty Sanchez", however, shall remain eternally amusing.

I like Tim Blair's comment: Queer Eye for the Murderous Bastard Guy.

    Copy Editor,

I have always thought that when people say, "To coin a phrase," and then repeat some characteristic phrase of someone famous, which I see pretty commonly, they are aware of what "coin" means and are being ironic. But maybe I am giving them the benefit of the doubt undeservedly.

The "to coin a phrase" was tounge-in-cheek...

To coin a phrase, The only thing worse than arrant pedantry is errant pedantry. Many people use "to coin a phrase" followed by a common phrase in exactly the way that Julian has, and with full knowledge.

Now, improper use of "begging the question" is another thing, but nobody's done that here so I'll move on.
