I think the “…when they should be capturing terrorists” angle is lame. Meter maids and prison guards could be catching terrorist, too. Is there some connection between enforcing this program and weakening our protection against terrorism? Is there evidence that these people are letting terrorist in? If it’s just a rhetorical device, it’s one that’s really losing its punch, like “…or the terrorist will have won.”
Also, the idea that State and HS are poiting the finger at each other, but the article doesn’t explain how this came about, or provide any examples. It just sort of waives at what looks like an interesting story. Maybe Matt’s editor chapped something?
