Testing Our Patience

|

An inspector general's report has found that new baggage screeners at New York City airports were given the answers to many of the written questions on their qualifying tests, and they often were not asked to identify guns, bombs, and other contraband under real world conditions. "The point of federalizing airport security was to improve security by hiring well-trained employees who would be paid at more than just a minimum-wage level. The ludicrousness of this test undercuts everything Congress was trying to do in that regard," said New York Sen. Charles Schumer.
