Too Sensitive
Dennis Udink has one simple wish: He wants a vanity license plate with his last name on it. Utah's Department of Motor Vehicles has refused his request, saying that "dink" is vulgar and obscene. Udink points out that his Dutch last name is actually pretty common in parts of Utah, where his family settled long ago. Making the situation even odder, the Deseret News looked up the word "dink" in couple of dictionaries and failed to find any definition for the word that was obscene, though apparently it was a derogatory slang term for North Vietnamese soldiers in the Vietnam war. The state legislature is looking into Udink's case.
