Congressional Insertions
The feds may need the expertise of the L.A. vice cop Julian linked to yesterday if some in Congress get their way.
On Tuesday Senator Jeff Sessions introduced a resolution expressing "that it is the sense of Congress that the Federal obscenity laws should be vigorously enforced throughout the United States." (The identical House version has 37 co-sponsors.)
The resolution was drafted by attorneys at Morality in Media, Inc.

"Being from Alabama, I can state with some authority that Sen. Sessions is an embarassment. As well as a complete and total ass."
And yet he isn't as much of an ass as Sen. Shelby is.
Just can't escape your puritanical past
No, Congress can't escape their puritanical past. I think most of us get along fine wholly ignoring the "sense of Congress". If you're scared, just surf through an SSL proxy and keep your internet cache on a ramdrive. Delete your pagefile every now and again.
Really, how seriously should the American people take moral judgements from the tax evaders, drunks (that means you, Ted), Christian fundamentalists, Zionists, liberal apologists, and priveleged Ivy Leaguers which comprise Congress? What a joke.
Did anybody else read "Congressional Insertions" and wonder what Ted Kennedy was up to now?
rst suddely disapproves of tax evaders and drunks. How un-libertarian of you!
BTW, Teddy stopped drinking heavily a decade ago. He's not purple anymore.

I don't disapprove of them. I'm just not going to take my moral cues from them.
Teddy stopped drinking heavily a decade ago.
Yes, and I'm sure Mary Jo appreciates that.
Fucking eh
"Did you know that we're in the midst of Protection From Pornography Week?"
Time to stop off at City News and Video and pick up some DVDs.
Just can't escape your puritanical past, eh? 🙂 *chuckle*
bah. it's nothing a few dozen cloves of garlic and some stakes can't fix. maybe then we can stop these legislators from rising again and wreaking havoc with our right to diddle ourselves in peace.
Something a little kinky about that "vigorously enforced" language.

Pant tip, the estimable Something Awful.
Being from Alabama, I can state with some authority that Sen. Sessions is an embarassment. As well as a complete and total ass.
Don't laugh, dude. Just last week, I was beaten senseless and had my wallet stolen by two VHS tapes, a DVD, and the Junk Mail folder of my hotmail account.
On the Protection from Porn page, 3rd paragraph - why is exploitation hyphenated? Was this copied and pasted from a Bush speech or something?
For a minute I thought this was an effort to keep Bono from saying "fucking" on TV again.
This is a good example of what Baudrillard means by misdirection used in the service of simularca.
I truly wish the Rush Limbaugh curse on these assholes. Somehow, their secret porn stashes will be found by their wives and exposed to the world.
