    Is that “knuckleball” or knucklehead”?

  3. a pirate   22 years ago

any chance we will get to see the uncut version of the interview.

You know the one where cathy will actually finish her answers, or is this going to be another Bill yelling SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP at another victim in a chair?

As if Bill knows anything about this case, it seems alot of white men/women on TV just cant grasp the concept of a dick doing a little damage during concentual sex. Guess none of those women rape advocates have ever banged a well hung black man.. and well Bill, he doenst believe big dicks exisit…

O’Reilly in his interview with Terry Gross states that he doesn’t believe in the Big Bang; which essentially undermines anything that he says in my mind.

  5. Steve in CO   22 years ago

But he’s against the Death Penalty… okay, so he throws that in their to prove he’s fair…

Good luck to Cathy, she’ll need it. One bit of advice though, she should treat Bill like a 3 year old, pat his head verbally, and smile alot.

  6. Jean Bart   22 years ago

What was interesting about the interview with O’Reilly was that he claimed that fifty minutes of the intereview were devoted “defamation” and not his book; in fact, at least half of the interview dealt with the book.

Gross allowed him a few minute speech of paranoid rantings, and then O’Reilly hang-up.

O’Reilly?! Tell that chap to sod off, drunken mick

  8. charles oliver   22 years ago

Is Cathy plugging a book? I can’t imagine any other reason to do the show. Actually, even if I had a book to shill, you couldn’t drag me on the show.

  9. aray   22 years ago

I heard the Terry Gross interview thru the paranoid rantings about how everyone was out to get him, but I missed the walkout which didn’t surprise me.

However I did sympathize with his questioning of the Vietnameze conflict at the time.

    aray,

    You can listen on-line.

“O’Reilly in his interview with Terry Gross states that he doesn’t believe in the Big Bang; which essentially undermines anything that he says in my mind.”

He doesn’t believe in evolution either. I heard him say that on his show about a year ago. The guys an ignoramus. I’m tired of his bashing of ‘secularism’ too. I mean, whats that all about? He does it almost every show. Its like he thinks theocrats are getting to much of a bad name after 911. What a bonehead.

  12. Jean Bart   22 years ago

    Del,

Well the problem with not believing in the Big Bang is that you’ve cut yourself off from modern science on that one. There is rather specific evidence of its existance; the theory was proven, as much as one can be, in other words. In other words, its not nearly as soft as evolutionary science can be at times.

Well, what was especially funny is that he states that Jefferson and Madison were not interested in banning religion from public life. Which is partly the case, however it should be stated that they were both vehemently opposed to the use of tax dollars for the training of clerics or religious education in general.

  13. Jean Bart   22 years ago

I think what was especially funny about O’Reilly’s “shut up, shut up” tirade was that he claimed that the “people” of Afghanistan killed the guy’s father. If any “people” killed his father, it was the “people” of Saudi Arabia.

That’s enough of that particular bigotry, whoever the hell you are.

    Kevin

(No, I’m not an O’Reilly fan.)

I like to think that I’m an intelligent guy, but I don’t know if I believe in the Big Bang either.

I mean, do any of the readers here really understand the ins and outs of cosmology and particle physics? I certainly don’t. All I know is that scientists are constantly revising our ‘understanding’ of the universe, and I’m in no position to judge whether the Big Bang is Truth or merely today’s latest fad.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t believe in creationism either, but those of you who make fun of O’Reilly and others for their beliefs should recognize that your belief structure is based on a kind of faith, too. . . Unless you’re spending your time operating a radio telescope or running simulations on ASCI White, in which case I withdraw my comments.

has anyone ever just tried laughing at mr. o’reilly when he gets upset? i think that might set him off for good.

  17. loup-garou   22 years ago

I seem to recall Jacob Sullum laughing at him when O’Reilly called Sullum a libertine. I couldn’t tell if the comment was a joke, a mistake (he meant libertarian?) or a freudian slip.

Andrew, some fads are more useful than others. Whatever the explanation of origins of the universe, it has to explain an expanding universe and it has to be consistent with the observed portions of general relativity. One could say that Newtonian mechanics was a fad, but even as such, it explains pretty much the entire world you experience on a daily basis. My experience with physics is that in the limit of complexity, there is more than one picture you can draw that will arrive at the same mathematical results. These pictures are just for your benefit, the results are what matter in terms of the validity of a given theory.

Ha! Knuckleball = No Spin. I finally got it.

    I are smartt.

O’Reilly in his interview with Terry Gross states that he doesn’t believe in the Big Bang; which essentially undermines anything that he says in my mind.

The big bang is a simple theory based on old observations. It’s odd that you would require blind adherence to such a theory as requisite to believing what O’Reilly has to say about morality and politics. Don’t believe too hard in the big bang, it’s not too unlike creationism in that its cultural indoctrination has given it more “veracity” than any phenomenological observations have (i.e., “the world is flat.”)
