California, Here We Groan
Here's a Google compendium of reactions to last night's California gubernatorial debate. The most interesting story I've read so far is E! Online's, which takes political journalism to a whole new place.
I suspect that the debate won't seriously change the poll numbers for various candidates, most of whom acquitted themselves competently. Whether the debate will soften support for the recall of Gray Davis--currently about 55 percent want to fire the bastard from his phoney-baloney job--is anybody's guess.

I am sooooo fed up with Arianna playing the "gender" card, as she did with Ah-nold last night. If any of these schlemiels would just turn to her and say "shut the f*** up, bitch," I'd move to Cally just to vote for him.
Michael Barone last night refered to Huffington's inclusion as adding "polish" to the debate. Funny, I had no idea he was on crack.
P.S. - Go Sox!
"I am sooooo fed up with Arianna playing the "gender" card, as she did with Ah-nold last night."
Oh, poor baby. Arnold knows that the comment about flushing a woman's head down a toilet is a gender card flashpoint, and he throws it at her the first time she gets mouthy.
I think he's angling for the "Get back in the car, bitch!" vote.
As far as Arnold telling Arianna she's in the wrong state to be campaigning against Bush, I would 100% agree. Bush and his cronies have their faults, but that has nothing to do with the California GUBERnatorial (emphasis on GUBER) election.
Gentlemen! this bill will be a huge step in the treatment of the insane gambler
Excuse me, but I saw T3 and didn't even remember the toilet flushing scene. So does one have to meticulously examine all 120 minutes of a film to decide if it's kosher to reference it? Pretty lame.
"You want to flush the collective heads of women!"
The flush scene is in Total Recall not T3.
Carry on ...
anon@5:07
did you just crawl out from under a rock of crack or what?
Stitch,
I haven't seen T3 but Arnold repeatedly touted being able to 'get away with' shoving a woman's head in a toilet while promoting the movie.
i remember one time he shot a women in the head! then another time he chased some poor women and killed her boyfriend! do we want this sexist murdering warmonger as governor???
That E! article was absolutely brilliant.
The "Cruzer" is for raising taxes instead of cutting spending! Can't somebody shove HIS head in the toilet? Oh; I mean, metaphorically of course...
give the governor a harumph!
this recall is good for two things
1) entertainment value for us non californians
and
2) it thankfully distracts the media from its east-coast bias. in the same vein: bummer about the red sox making it instead of seattle...
happy thursday,

Arriana should win. She is the best example of the Left Coast electorate.
Gentlemen -- the affairs of state should take precendence over, uh, the affairs of state. Now if you'll excuse me ...

"The "Cruzer" is for raising taxes instead of cutting spending! Can't somebody shove HIS head in the toilet? Oh; I mean, metaphorically of course..."
Yeah, Cruz wants to raise sin taxes. He is going to solve Calis problems by taxing alcohol and smokes. And, as we all know those sorts of taxes always work real well.
hey geophile 🙂 *grin* the Sox made it!!!
just don't start about "curses" and the red sox -- the chicago baseball teams have lost 13 straight playoff series since the sox last won in 1917. the red sox at least were playing for the 'series win several times...
anyhow, Rick, to your comments, "The "Cruzer" is for raising taxes instead of cutting spending! Can't somebody shove HIS head in the toilet? Oh; I mean, metaphorically of course..."
Cruzer is only for that because he likes "fast cars and fast women"...
it's friday, okay?
