In the heady days of 2000, a company called HavenCo made a splash by announcing that it would offer a Cryptonomicon-style offshore haven for "zero-regulation e-commerce." Three years later, CNet is reporting that the enterprise may be on the rocks.

That article was a riot. A co-location facility on a gun tower 6 miles off of shore- maybe they should put one on the moon! A 'safe haven from governments' that would readily "turn customer information over to the authorities if there was any serious problem with our stuff." "Customers want stability.
