The Truth About Pyecraft
New at Reason: Is the culture making you fat, or are you doing it to yourself? Jacob Sullum binges on collectivist anti-fat proposals, and purges with a new perspective on weight trends.
And if you want to learn the truth about Pyecraft (who also refused to accept responsibility for his own fat problem), his story is finally public.

...this thread is a perfect example of why the most prominent libertarian candidate in recent memory was blue- like a smurf...
how does one explain fat fetishes? or fat couples? methinks you mistake artistic taste for objective reality.
and where the hell do they regulate ugly buildings? stop sniffing glue, m'man. they only build ugly gov't buildings.
dhex - have you ever actually met anyone with a fat fetish? Does such a person actually exist?
And the explanation for fat couples is simple - a good imagination in bed. Fat couples aren't attracted to each other, they've settled for each other.
do a search for "bears" and "gay" and you tell me. or "big women" and "porn" for that matter.
and i do know a very attractive woman (a thin friend's wife) who happens to have a thing for short hairy fat guys.
i think you're just confusing your own tastes for objective reality, m'man. especially when there are so many fat and thin couples.
Search for the term "BBW" and "plumper", or if you are into usenet check out lt.binaries.nospam.plumpers
I myself prefer the more plump variety of individual, though I have no inclination in favor of the morbidly obese. However, search the internet for "face-sitting" if you don't believe some people are into that sort of thing.
The thing that isn't mentioned is the simple cynical fact is that very few people in the world (at least of those with great deals of power and infleunce) really have any problem with screwing with other peoples lives to serve their own interests, no matter how proundly horrified or offended they would be if someone tried to do the same sort of thing to them. That, and "society" has just become one more entity to blame for your problems.
Seems like there wouldn't e so much of a fuss if the government got out of the health care business. Then the taxpayers couldn't complain about paying for smokers/druggies/fatties/skydivers/cloud shootin' libertarians.

Fat people are ugly.
That is the 800 pound gorilla that nobody wants to talk about. People don't exercise at 20 so they will live to 75 instead of 70, the exersice to look better.
Fat ugly people cause a negative externality on everybody else that has to look at them (even fat people that have to look a them). If the government can regulate ugly buildings, why can't it tax ugly people?
I agree Tom,
Furthermore fat people block my view of cute skinny chicks !
What would Jesus do?
feed mary magdalene chocolate eclairs and go to town?
Fat people make me sick - but not as much as really stupid bigoted american idiots
