The no-college thing seemed to work well for Penn, but personally I am thankful for all the liberal arts teachers -- especially those in history and foreign language/literature -- that induced me to read and think about things I wouldn't have otherwise.

People have been pursuing liberal arts educations for a long long time, much longer than they have been going for the "hard science" thing.
