On Taxes: The Ovation Points the Way

Can't help but notice that President George W. Bush's call to accelerate the tax cuts already on the books and due to become effective in the next few years won a State of the Union standing-O from his troops in Congress while the call to "end the unfair double taxation of dividends" got only the polite clap-clap.

The latter is just a much more obtuse thing to sell—to the public and politicians.
