It's a Man's, Man's, Man's World
A 1989 survey found that 6 of the 10 countries with the highest percentages of women in their national parliaments were Communist-ruled states. Of course, Communist leaders would argue that this shows how progressive they are. But more likely, it just shows that if the people who really run these countries have a few figurehead positions to fill, they'll give some to the girls. With reforms sweeping through the East Bloc, we can expect an end to such affirmative action.
