A selective mention of books received
Some hints in search of a theme: Reason Foundation Advisory Board member Juliana Geran Pilon is the author of Notes from the Other Side of Night, recently published by Gateway Editions (South Bend, Ind., 1979, 147 pp., $8.95), in which she recounts impressions, memories, and reflections on freedom on the occasion of a return visit to her native Romania. REASON contributor Don B. Kates ("Gun Control Doesn't Work," May 1977) is the editor of Restricting Handguns: The Liberal Skeptics Speak Out, recently published by North River Press (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., 1979, 237 pp., $9.95/$6.95; distributed by Caroline House, Thornwood, N.Y.). The fourth volume of REASON contributing editor Murray N. Rothbard's Conceived in Liberty is now out from Arlington House (New Rochelle, N.Y., 1979, 470 pp., $14.95); the title and subject of this volume: The Revolutionary War, 1775-1784. And Rothbard and REASON contributors James M. Buchanan and Eric Mack have contributions in Anarchism, a book in the series Nomos, the yearbook of the American Society for Political and Legal Philosophy (edited by J. Roland Pennock and John W. Chapman, New York: New York University Press, 1978, 375 pp., $17.50). And REASON contributing editor and movie reviewer John Hospers has his essay "Free Enterprise as the Embodiment of Justice" in Ethics, Free Enterprise, and Public Policy (edited by Richard T. DeGeorge and Joseph A. Pichler, New York: Oxford University Press, 1978, 329 pp., $11/$6). And senior editor Tibor Machan has contributed "Reason, Morality, and the Free Society" to a volume on F.A. Hayek's thought, Liberty and the Rule of Law (edited by Robert L. Cunningham, College Station: Texas A&M University Press, 1979, 349 pp., $15).
