Brickbat: Have a Coke and a Smile

Melissa Jones, 17, and a friend stopped at Liverpool, England, store to buy some Coca-Cola. That's where they were attacked by another customer who was drunk and angry that the store refused to serve her. But when the police arrived, they arrested Jones for being drunk and disorderly, even though she hadn't had a drink. When she refused to accept her guilt and pay a fine, they took her to jail, fingerprinted her and took a DNA sample. She stayed in jail 10 hours. It took eight months and one court appearance for authorities to drop the charge.

    And of course, those responsible for this travesty were all "forcibly retired" right?

    Wow, GB - you're "justice" system is even more broken than Mexico's.

    Yesterday a friend of mine was coming back across the border after shopping in San Luis when a dude tried to hold him up for his wallet with a screwdriver. After beating the guy up, and then checking to make sure he was all right, the Mexican cops showed up. They intended to arrest my friend even though witnesses on the scene pointed out that the guy on the ground was the robber.

    Luckily, in Mexico, $20 was enough to solve the "evidential dispute".

  • Fist of Etiquette||

    The system worked. Everyone involved got the justice they deserved.

    Looking on the bright side, at least she wasn't a dog...

  • Agammamon||

    They don't shoot dogs over there, only Brazilians.

  • ||

    I've known some Mexican girls. Trust me, they had not gotten Brazilians.

    Liverpool LEOs: "Ma'am, I see you're hurt. We've got some salt. Let us just grind that in there real good."

    Liverpool prosecutor: "Ma'am, that's a nasty, salty wound. Let me get my lemon juice."

    The Brickbalt-text still isn't here at 8:20.

  • WTF||

    Alt-text: "Coke whore."

    A spokesman said it would be reviewing the case to see “if there are any lessons to be learned”.

    "Nope, no lessons in *this* one."

  • db||

    The lesson is that Coca-Cola should be banned to prevent people going into dangerous situations to obtain it.

  • AlexInCT||

    Mike Bloomberg, is that you?

  • Rich||

    At least require Coca-Cola to fund autism research.

  • ||

    It is fucking england, the land where you can be arrested for the look on your face or for something you wrote on twitter, they have turned their country into the most totalitarian state in the world. Fuck them.

    I used to be pen-pals with several brits, but I had to drop them. Over the course of several years they became increasingly insane. Absolute enviro-nazis with zero grasp of reality.

    All I have to do is talk to people at work to get this nonsesne going. I live in CT, and these leftists are mostely enviro-nazis and have no grasp of reality too. If they had a Cockney accent they might be cute for a bit...

    "Bloody 'ell!"

    If they were cute, they wouldn't be British. All 5 beautiful British women are already in the US.

    Did you check their mouths? Those choppers sure make for an aweful fright...

  • Auric Demonocles||

    The thing that stuck with me most from my trip to the UK was talking with my London tour guide, and he asked how we felt about the guards at Buckingham Palace having guns (we were several miles away, but I mentioned I had seen it that morning). He was terrified that they had guns. And not in general. He was scared at that moment. He was literally scared of security guards several miles away from him having guns on them.

    What a bunch of pussies.

  • Brett L||

    Was he afraid of drills and saws jumping up and coming after him, too?

  • Auric Demonocles||

    I don't know, he ran away too quickly for me to ask about that, out of fear of my non-NHS monitored body infecting him.

  • RBS||

    These are the people who lack the self control to not shoot themselves or someone else if they pick up a gun. They are probably the people who, when given a pair of scissors, somehow manage to chop off one of their toes.

  • db||

    He is right to be afraid of armed government agents.

  • AlexInCT||

    We are from the government and we are here to help you...

    "He was scared at that moment. He was literally scared of security guards several miles away from him having guns on them."

    That is the kind of insanity I was talking about. I dropped most of them, but some of them dropped me because I have guns and wear a pistol most of the time. Apparently it is very frightening to open an email that was typed by someone who was armed at the time of writing.
