Brickbat: Bring Your Camera

WorldnowWorldnowFor many years, barns across the South sported ads for Rock City, a tourist attraction near Chattanooga. When Ben Morris bought an old barn near Cumming, Georgia, he was delighted to find a faded sign reading "See Rock City." So he slapped another layer of paint on it to bring out the letters and preserve a bit of history. Now, he's being threatened with fines for violating Forsyth County's 10-year-old ban on roof-top signs.

    He should have bought his barn's roof, too. That's an oversight on his part.

  • some guy||

    I'm sure he didn't really buy the barn, either.

  • LTC(ret) John||

    That barn, you didn't buy that.

  • SugarFree||

    "I mean, at this point, what are you even storing in a barn?"

  • Zombie Jimbo||

    Only kulaks store things in barns, comrade.

  • SugarFree||

    There is but one barn. The Barn of the People.

    Hope he wins that one. Because he's going to need the money when Detroit sues his ass.

  • Fist of Etiquette||

    Or Hanna-Barbera Productions.

  • WomSom||

    Dude is like totally rocking it man.

  • Counterfly||

    Wow, WomSom, you really leave no stone unturned.

  • RBS||

    Even the spambot's like early morning puns.

    Let he who is without sin make fun to the spambot first.

  • Doctor Whom||

    The spambot makes more sense than Tony.

  • AlmightyJB||

    Breast reduction surgery makes more sense than Tony.

    "As a county commissioner we are set by rules and procedures."

    This is why county commission chairmen pull down the big bucks.

    Eh. I am running buddies with one of mine and have been out drinking several times with another. Just like how I am friends with the couple who form 2 of the 5 votes on our stupid HOA. I can play the 'who you know' game, too. Though, SLD, I would prefer to live in a world where I didn't have to.

    in the process of restoring the historic buildings, a handyman discovered faded letters beneath dirt and rust on the roof

    Ah, HA! Fine the HANDYMAN!

  • Wind Rider||

    Was he LICENSED? INSURED? Was there a PERMIT allowing him to even LOOK at the damned barn?

    THIS will be the collapse of Western Civilization.

  • dalewalt||

    C'mon, does he really *need* a barn roof?

  • Auric Demonocles||

    Certainly not with multiple coats of paint.

  • Pro Libertate||

    Those barns are classic. My family had one that was burned down about ten years ago that was part of the original series or so. My grandmother commissioned a painting of it, so I actually have a "See Rock City" barn on my wall at home.

  • Wind Rider||

    So, then, you readily admit 'you didn't build that'. I see.
