Brickbat: To Catch a Thief
Astral MediaGirls at California's Linden High
School grew upset at the repeated thefts from their lockers during
gym class. So one of them, Justine Betti, decided to hide in one of
the lockers and catch the thief in action. She managed to record on
video one of the teachers going through the girls' bags and
apparently taking something out of one of them. When she went to
the principal with the video, he told her he'd investigate it but
said she should
erase the video. Fortunately, she'd already sent a copy to her
dad. The teacher is now on administrative leave while the school
investigates the thefts.

If the girl's frequent use of "like" in her speech is any indication of the student body in general, it's the school's grammar teacher who should be tossed in jail.

Overusing "like" isn't bad grammar. It's either bad usage or bad syntax.

It seems as if some structural rules are being ignored or misused. That sounds a bit like grammar, too.

If it weren't for the teacher's union, she'd be saying 'coma' or whatever Spanish verbal crutch is the equivalent.

The guy's description is awesome.

Nothing says a commitment to a full investigation than wanting to eliminate the best evidence.
