Internet Cop Julius Genachowski Get His Small Government On

The Hill reports that Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski, fresh from finishing his quest to implement net neutrality regulations, will "show his small government side" by talking a little bit about "reducing regulatory barriers."

After incensing small government types with rules they viewed as burdensome, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski has begun a new effort to align his agency with with the goal of regulatory restraint. He will debut this new line of messaging at two events on Wednesday about reducing regulatory barriers. One is a panel conversation (or, if you want, "digital town hall") about job creation and the economy.

Presumably net neutrality, stricter flavors of which even telecom labor groups have warned could "reduce broadband investment and jobs," won't be one of the regulatory barriers on the target list.

It would be nice if some or all of the folks attending the digital town hall with JG bring up how net neutrality will backfire on his proposed small governance. But I bet he's really only digital town halling with supportive folks. Putzes like this guy don't set themselves up for the fall.
