Hey, Kool-Aid!

In honor of the anniversary of the Jonestown massacre -- yes, yes, I'm a day late -- here's a classic collaboration between Reason's own Peter Bagge and another libertarian comix favorite, Alan Moore.

Hat tip: Bryan Alexander.

This is one of the funniest things I've ever read.

When he's smiling at the funeral, oh god...

Xeones|11.19.09 @ 9:56AM|

That is fucking awesome.

|11.19.09 @ 9:58AM|

Typical religion-bashing from the elitist snobs of Reason.

DanD|11.19.09 @ 9:59AM|

hahaha! Tom Wolfe pisses into his head!!!

This had me rolling.

|11.19.09 @ 10:01AM|

OH YEAAAAAAAAH!

someone had to say it

Art-P.O.G.|11.19.09 @ 10:03AM|

Peter Bagge is not only a great illustrator (and writer, although Moore's responsible for this one), but I realize he's criminally underrated as a letterer, too.

Good stuff.

Xeones|11.19.09 @ 10:04AM|

OH YEAAAHHH!

Xeones|11.19.09 @ 10:05AM|

Personally, though, i've always preferred the Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Mister President, you look thirsty.

Kyle Jordan|11.19.09 @ 10:17AM|

That, was wonderful.

Citizen Nothing|11.19.09 @ 10:29AM|

Tremendous.

Mister DNA|11.19.09 @ 10:37AM|

I liked Reddy Kilowatt's cameo.

The Gobbler|11.19.09 @ 11:28AM|

I'm curious. Did Reason get permission to use the Reddy Kilowatt character? I believe it's trademarked.

Jesse Walker|11.19.09 @ 11:41AM|

Reason would not need permission to use the character, as Reason did not publish the comic. More importantly, it's fair use for satiric purposes. There's no chance a reader would think the Reddy Kilowatt cameo means the Northern States Power Company endorses the comic, so customer confusion isn't an issue; hence Peter can use the mark legally.

The Gobbler|11.19.09 @ 11:49AM|

Thanks!

Citizen Nothing|11.19.09 @ 11:55AM|

It appears that Northern States Power Company endorses that perverted comic!
Those sickos!

Hal|11.19.09 @ 12:41PM|

That's how I took it.

Flavor Aid, people. Just like Kool Aid and nothing like lemonade. Although the fine people at Jel Sert really do wish you'd quit bringing this up.

Art-P.O.G.|11.19.09 @ 11:11AM|

My brand, "Grin-Aid", never caught on. :(

Art-P.O.G.|11.19.09 @ 11:12AM|

Despite the burst of flavor it provided.

robc|11.19.09 @ 11:14AM|

I agree that Sometimes a Great Notion is kinda slow. But a great novel.

|11.19.09 @ 3:51PM|

The movie based on it was pretty good, I thought.

|11.19.09 @ 3:54PM|

To complete that thought:

The movie based on it was pretty good, I thought. Never read the book, though I read One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and saw the film.

BakedPenguin|11.19.09 @ 11:25AM|

Personally, though, i've always preferred the Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Their leader is not nearly as mentally ill as Jim Jones. Or at least less murderous.

Lumper|11.19.09 @ 11:55AM|

For me I've always lumped Bagge's work in with the like of Tom Tomorrow's Modern World: Visually jumbled and crowded to the point of not caring to read.

Citizen Nothing|11.19.09 @ 11:57AM|

Good thing there's still Ziggy! (Family Circus can get a little jiggy, too, what with all those dotted lines and all.)

T|11.19.09 @ 12:42PM|

For me I've always lumped Bagge's work in with the like of Tom Tomorrow's Modern World: Visually jumbled and crowded to the point of not caring to read.

I recommend this, then. Nice and streamlined for your viewing enjoyment.
