The conviction of "Boy" George O'Dowd, former Culture Club frontman and, according to his own barrister, a "drug-crazed idiot," on charges of kidnapping and assaulting a Norwegian prostitute (we've all been there) provides a great excuse to add yet another video to the pantheon of shitty Obama songs. O'Dowd will be serving 15 months, but before he was locked up by the Snaresbrook Crown Court he managed commit this pro-Obama pop music crime.

Damn. I was looking forward to a nice beef barley soup this eve. Now I feel nausea waves that are tsunami-like in scale
You know, usually I defend the wearing of hats, but Mr. O'Dowd's hat makes him look creepy. I mean, creepy as we think of a person who might offer candy to a youngster, the better to molest . . . or kidnap a harlot.

Brief summary of the article for those who don't want to
read:
He isn't to blame for chaining the poor boy to a wall, with the
help of another person, nor of lashing out at him with a metal
chain. It was the drugs and only the drugs that made him do the
things he did. The drugs I say!
ONLY 15 months for kidnapping and beating someone with a chain? Did he blow the judge or something?
ONLY 15 months for kidnapping and beating someone with a
chain?
It's England. That's getting the book thrown at you over there.
Good thing he didn't make a racial remark or start an addition to
his house without council approval.
Yes I really want to hurt you,
Yes, I really wanna break your face;
Might've been a boy named Sue
But the fucker never wore no lace...
-Comedian Pat Godwin (as Johnny Cash) signing to Boy George
Too bad for George that the prostitute didn't try to defend himself, otherwise the pro would be in jail and George would have been given a medal.

So this is like the Israeli / Palestinian conflict?
boy george is just being persicuted for being different and reason is jumping on.
you are talking about thjis and ignoring the murder of bhirds by usairways.
I'm surprised Robert Bork and William Bennett haven't come out and said, "Look, queers and drugs and prostitutes get their comeuppance!"
After his publication of "Slouching Towards Ghemora" I actually became glad he became a verb and not a member of the USSC. Before that I thought he was treated unfairly by the Senate. But I was very young then and influenced by my Republican parents. Perhaps I should look at the transcripts of those hearings again. I might have a different perspective now.

can I just say "well done" to an awesome pilot - former USAF F-4
driver, and fellow USAF Academy grad. GO AIR FORCE! done us all
proud.
Wow. Someone finally came up with a "musical" performance even
more insipid than Pat Boone at his nadir.

Yup, it's awful...but ya know the sad thing is, he's still got a pretty good singing voice...
Here's the official video, it's kind of more fun (and
drug-crazed)

"Slouching Towards Ghemora"
The title is *Slouching Towards Gomorrah* - referring, of course,
to the Biblical city.
Ghemora sounds like some Tokyo-attacking monster.
"The title is *Slouching Towards Gomorrah* - referring, of
course, to the Biblical city."
and the slouching part most likely referencing the famous yeats
poem "the second coming."
Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at laSt,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
It's very important to the reality stream that Boy George appears every now and then to remind us of his freakiness. Comforting, almost as good as the occasional Tonya Harding resurgence.
