It's going to be called as soon as the West Coast comes in at 11 p.m. ET. I've been too busy interviewing Barr people at his election party to check the House races lately, but so far Murtha is winning, and a lot of the close races are breaking their way.

what we can likely expect from obama. there is at least some succor
in the satisfaction this will give to my neighbors (i live in a

One possible, tiny bright spot for Barr: With 93% of the precincts reporting in Indiana, Obama is ahead of McCain by 0.3%; Barr has 1.1%. So most likely, Barr caused Indiana to go from McCain to Barr. Not that it means much, given the Electoral College vote thumping McCain is receiving.

On the other hand, I suggest keeping a list of all the things BHO
does and never letting any public figure who helped - including
major bloggers - forget it. And, that includes both those who
supported him and those who did little or nothing.
Every time they state an opinion and there's an opening, let anyone
know what they played a part in.
I want to see some of these people working at McDonald's so I can
go in and leave them a penny tip.

According to C-SPAN right now, Bob Barr's @ 362,000 votes. I'd say that, given that a lot of the country isn't counted yet, he's definitely on track to do very well for an LP candidate.

It's quite simple. Just become a CEO of a bank that tanks and ask
the government for billions of dollars in bailouts (derived from

It looks more to me like Obama had at least a semi-coherent story
line in a race where McCain couldn't manage to do the same, even
long enough to get in the White House. I mean once you're in, you

McCain shot himself out of this race, the day he backed
Bailout.
So we had a choice between a socialist and a lune who'd probably be
worse than Bush was.

On a side note I added up all of the third party candidates from
2004 and came up with 1,126,404 total votes. (By all I mean Nader,
Libertarian, Constitution, and Green Parties) We will see what this

I'm okay with the result tonight. I voted for Barr as a protest
(I live in CA so my vote is utterly meaningless anyway). Complete
Democratic control of the executive and legislative branches is a
little scary. But the GOP deserved to get its ass handed to
it.
Obama may take us down the road to european socialism, but let's
face it...that's where it's always been going anyway. At least the
rest of the world might hate us slightly less. It will make my
vacations more pleasant.

It begins. Barack Obama becomes the first African-American to
become the US President in 200 years. This is historic, granted,
and is something I thought I would never see in my lifetime.

I live in a sea of Democrats, leftists, and old-school Marxists. My
beliefs are misunderstood, as I am sure many libertarians may agree
with me, the left does not "get" us. As I write this, I have heard
some cheering in downtown Minneapolis, as I am sure the parties are
just starting. I suppose after waiting eight years to regain power,
and in light of the recent economic downturn, they have a reason to
celebrate. All hail the new leader. Welcome to socialism.
My beliefs are shaken. Can someone please make a cogent argument
for libertarianism? I need ammunition to deal with the sometimes
sneering, self-righteous attitudes of my predominately leftist
co-workers and acquaintances who, no doubt, will be quick to point
out how "capitalism has failed."

Is this the beginning of the end for free-markets and free-minds?
Are we destined for universal healthcare, expansive government and
other schemes? Are we going to become a European style socialist
state? I need answers, but I fear I will find none.
Where do we go from here? I am almost tempted to resign myself from

It's not the end of free markets. People who say free markets or
capitalism doesn't work really don't know what they're talking
about - the question really is, will there be more regulation. Ask
your colleagues whether they want to choose the search engine they
want to use? Should the government, say, favor ask.com over Google?
Do they want to be forced to buy a GM over a BMW or Toyota? (not
that there's anything wrong with anything) Ask them everything they
buy - ipod vs. zune, where they shop, where they live - do they
want the government to choose for them? If American car companies
are so important to save, how many of them actually buy American
cars? Obama isn't socialist - favoring unions is a liberal
philosophy, not socialist. I frankly don't understand what all this
fear about socialism is.

With the implosion of the Republican part,there is in fact a
huge opportunity for the Libertarian party, right here in front of
us. But is anything going to be done with this opportunity?
I'd love to be amazed and see it happen. But most Libertarians I've
known, would much rather the right in a theoretical sense, than
relevant on the national stage. The Libertarian party is in need of
a house cleaning, at least as bad as the Republicans.
Being relevant is one hell of a lot more work than being

This is a massive defeat for the Republican Party, but also for
the Libertarian Party. In addition to Barr's not attaining the 1
million goal, it does not appear any Libertarians were elected to
State Legislatures or other offices of significance.
Even more insulting, Nader will most likely finish 3rd over
Barr.
You can only conclude by these results, that America has rejected
Liberty. Americans no longer want limited government.

Since the early days of its history, the Libertarian Party has
promoted one narrow vision of liberty that doesn't appeal to the
public and hasn't been communicated well. The failure of the
Libertarian Party does not equate to the failure of
libertarianism.

and legislative branches at a moment when their preferred policies
of higher taxes and more government control over the private sector
will do the most harm. This is going to be a rough four

1776 united states became a independent federal republic, in 1789 elected its first president george washington, 1960 its first roman catholic president john f. kennedy was elected ok finally 2008 its first *afro-american. now lets forget about politics and try to unite and support our new president. sen john mccain is a good man a war hero gov. sarah palin a state chief executive. however she may not be very bright i.e. she thought africa was a country duh its a continent dumbass hockey mom! any way as a independent-moderate i think it was peacefull transition to power.bye
